We Already Have a Weapon to Destroy Ascended Beings (Spoilers)

Remember Khalek? Well, the real reason why Anubis made him was never told on-screen, but we know that Anubis' reasons were to create an army of beings who, when numerous enough, could ascend and battle the Ancients, and destroy them, so that he, Anubis, could once again regain ascended form.

And we have access to Anubis' notes and his device, so here is what we could do:

Take as many people as we can, pass them through the device, advance them all to Khalek level, and when we have a good number of them ready to ascend, they all ascend and go at it with the Ori.

    It's possible, conceivable and effective.

I remember reading this somewhere. I don't know why it wasn't explored farther. I thought there was supposed to already be an army of them.

I hope we see more of them, not only because that is cool, but because the concept is cool too.

Khalek's planet isn't reachable anymore because of the black-star and the reprograming of the DHD.

The Only Problem is: How do we work the machine? You saw what happened when Nirti (who had better understanding of the technology) experimented on those People in Metamorphosis, I doubt anybody would sign up for that!

Plus, the device was meant for Ancient, even though we're quite Close, you saw what happened with the Pre-Sarcophogus, it made Humans Insane & Zombogofied. Who's to say the tech, in large amounts (such as what you're suggesting) wouldn't make Humans Unstable. Maybe that's the reason why Khalek was Like that (besides the fact that he was Anubis II).

Who's to say creating an Army of Hok'Taurs wont make them all unstable & destroy Earth, The Ancients & Untold number of innocents? They may destroy the Ori too, but along with Billions of Others in an Insane Rage...

I don't think Humans are ready for unimagianble powers just yet, if ever with Alteran tech. It seems to have nasty side effects on Humans...

You saw what happened with Daniel too, he had God-Like powers & he (possibley) couldn't comprehend the rules, with his Human Understandings, so he broke them to interfeer. That could (& probably was) a result of giving soemone who wasn't ready, God-like powers. Yes, they came from an Ascended Ancient (Oma Destala), but one who's expertice is Breaking & bending the rules. She could be the Osama Bin Laden of Ascendeds for all we know!

Thats quite true actually, but then that'll throw up a hell of a lot of morality issues!

Question 2, you are in the desert, you see a tortoise lying on his back, in the hot sun. You recognize his plight but do nothing to help, why?

because… you are also a tortoise.

O’NEILL: No. No. Full well expected the other shoe to drop eventually.

THOR: We can only hope this will be the last footwear to fall.

Well Anubis kept his notes and everything he did written there, so we could theoretically make it work (put Mckay and Carter to it)

And the device is not meant for only Ancients. Khalek wasn't an Ancient, or even a Hok'taur, he is clone of Anubis before his ascension (aka, Anubis' host' physical form). Which means he was originally human.

Agreed. I would like to see this more though, at least with others that Anubis created.

Ah, but look what he turned out like... He was unstable... Even though he had Anubis' memories, I think the Ancient Gene Tampering had something to do with it too.

Plus, he was kept in the Freeze, We don't know how long his physical Body could last for, it might have burnt out & killed him latter, possibly preventing him from Ascending? (He could be too burnt out or in overdrive too ascend at this hypothetical point- Daniel was given help, as was Skaara & Abydos, we don't really know how Death effects Ascension).

They could go on a power trip and end up wiping out everything.

A theme in this show is that power corrupts. Look at Daneil, (twice), Gerak, The Ori, Senator Kinsey (kind of), I'm sure there are more examples.

At least at the moment the Ancients don't do anything, and building an army which is much more powerful than the people who control it is just asking for trouble.

The Prophet: Khalek was perfectly sane. He was just evil. He was basically Anubis, sort of like the Ba'al thing, which might be where Ba'al got the idea to clone himself.

Chutzpah: I don't think morality would be an issue to them, it's basically the same thing as looking for a weapon, the difference is that theyare the weapon in this case.

As for how to keep the ascended from stepping in, well that's why they wait until they have sufficent amounts of people ready to ascend, then they all ascend at the same time (they only have to outnumber the Ori). I'm sure the Ancients & Co. wouldn't mind if we do their dirty work.

The only conceivable problem is not knowing how many Ori there are, but there could be ways of finding out....

Actually there is a morality issue with that because its essentially conducting genetic experiments on human beings plus its technology far above what humanity knows. And one can't just grab a person off the street and say 'Hey do you want to be an Ascended being?'. Its too much power to put in some random persons hands...and if they disobey what their government says so what? Its not like they can stop them once they ascended. So personally think its not a good idea. Its too early for humanity to fiddle around with such a creation.

Also its likely the Ascended Ancients would stop those who ascended...Anubis's plan was going to work because he intended to fight the Ascended Ancients not some other foe. So while these Ascended humans would try and attack the Ascended Ancients would stop them.

I'm talking about a Carter/Mckay kind of person, someone who really comes to understand the technology. We'd obviousley have to be sure before using it, but they've done harder things, I'm sure there is some way.

The Ancients wouldn't stop them if they all ascend at the same time, and they certainly wouldn't stop them from battling the Ori.

All we need is to make enough to persuade more Ascended to join those who believe they should fight the Ori.

But even if we can't, they wouldn't stop them from going to kill the Ori, since it's not interference.

Well.. The Ancients would Descend us as soon as they noticed... The reason that the Ancients probably couldnt stop Anubis is because when he was going to do it, he was to do it in to where most of the ancients would be stuck fighting the warriors... or something, because he didnt have any weapon to do it, so and thats the only way we know how to stop them...

They wouldn't, it isn't breaking any rules.

Ascending and trying to kill the Ori is perfectly "legal", the difference is you need more than one person with that goal in mind, and if you have an entire army then you may actually be able to outnumber and "outmaneuver" the Ori.

It's not interference, so they have no reason for which to descend the army.
