Why is Anubis a 'black' mist?

Why is Anubis a black mist when other ascended beings are usually white? Even if he is half ascended, I still don't see why his form is a 'black' mist. Just because he is evil doesn't mean his mist would be black. There are other evil ascended beings which don't appear as a black mist (Ori). Any comments/explanations?

Oh yeah. That would explain why the Ori appear as fire too.
      Thanks.

And all this time I just thought the black coloration was just a visual cue to let us know he's a really rotten evil guy.
