    SyFy Portal has now begun voting for the 2006 SyFy Genre Awards!

    You can vote between now and Aug. 22.

    Hello and welcome to the 2006 SyFy Portal Genre Awards.

    As with previous years we have had an exceptional list of talent selected for the vote by our panel of genre entertainment experts and the following 65 nominees are all worthy of special note, but as ever, only one from each category can win!

    The rules are simple, you can vote (or decline to vote,) in each category once a day for the next 30 days. At the end of the voting period, we will tally up the scores and announce the winners on the main news pages, right here, only at SyFy Portal!

      Ah, so right, not a contest Just matter who has the time/energy/whatever to go back every single day to vote for the same thing over and over

      I've only seen a few online votes where you could only vote once.

            Battlestar Galactica cancels itself out

            (October 01 2006) - When it comes to the Emmy and the SyFy Genre Awards, it's tough being "Battlestar Galactica."

            For the second year in a row, the critically-acclaimed SciFi Channel series led nominations, but was completely shut out once again in the seventh SyFy Genre Awards, this time playing second fiddle to a show that hasn't even been on the air for more than two years: "Firefly."

              Huh, it is rather odd that an annual awards contest puts up nominations from a show that hasn't aired in two years. Don't get me wrong - Firefly deserves its awards, but shouldn't only currently airing shows get the nod?
