Nets head to comics confab this year

While movie studios have figured out how to maximize the 6,000-seat potential of Comic-Con's Hall H, TV channels are still courting fans the old-fashioned way, one by one on the convention floor. "(Comic-Con attendees) are the most dedicated fans, who give us instant feedback on programming," says Dennis Adamovich, senior VP of marketing for Cartoon Network. Here's what the TV side is doing at Comic-Con this year:

G4
History: Now in its third year at the Con, G4 is making coverage a priority this time around, broadcasting live from the floor on Friday night and dedicating two episodes of "Attack of the Show" to convention goings-on.
Promoting: G4's focus is on coverage, so it has no panels scheduled, but there will be booth presence for "Attack of the Show" and "Happy Tree Friends," a smash with the 2005 Con crowd being readied for its series debut in the fall.
SCI FI CHANNEL
History: Going into its seventh year of attendance, the net will bring an enlarged version of its award-winning, hyper-modernist 2005 booth. There will also be dispatches from Sci Fi's panels on Sci Fi Pulse, the cabler's broadband channel.
Promoting: The 10th anniversary and concurrent 200th episode of "Stargate SG-1" will be the focus of Sci Fi's promotional push, along with panels on stalwarts "Battlestar Galactica," "Stargate Atlantis" and the upcoming "Who Wants to Be a Superhero?"
