    Coalition of advanced races

Ugh I can't stand why won't we ask for help from one of the many advanced races we've encountered over the years
    To name a few

    Episode 203 Prisoners - http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s2/203.shtml
    Episode 213 Spirits - http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s2/213.shtml
    Episode 305 Learning curve - http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s3/305.shtml
    Episode 319 New Ground - http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s3/305.shtml
Episode 402 The Other Side -http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s4/402.shtml
    Episode 409 Scorched Earth - http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s4/409.shtml
Episode 410 Beneath the Surface http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s4/410.shtml
    Episode 620 Memento - http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s6/620.shtml
    Episode 705 Revisions - http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s7/705.shtml
    Episode 706 LifeBoat - http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s7/706.shtml
    Episode 708 Space Race - http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s7/708.shtml
    Episode 912 - http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s9/912.shtml

Ok Not all of these races are exactly fit to fight the Ori but many possess technology in some way that is greater then ours. Especially the people from Space Race - Serrakin whom we know succesfully defeated the Goa'uld and Hebridan is a world full of advanced technology http://www.gateworld.net/omnipedia/r...serrakin.shtml

anyway that's just one example, anyone who has seen these episodes knows what i'm talking about

Because the show is about SG-1, and Earth saving the day, not a galatic co-op of advanced races teaming up and fighting evil. If you want that sort of thing, watch Star Trek.

Sure, it may make sence in the real world, but this is just T.V
An all new Stargate spinoff presents

    Stargate: The B Team

The galaxy just got a whoooole lot crazier!

We have asked these races for help, some of them have given some aid, some have rules about sharing tech and others we have rubbed the wrong way and aren't willing to give us anything.

Those races may be busy fighting the ori somewhere else, dealing with priors on their worlds, have been taken out by the priors plague, have capitulated to origin, be holding back to defend themselves only, be embroiled in wars with other races (including those already turned to origin), be dealing with civil wars over whether to accept origin, be working on ways to fight the ori or simply be sitting on the fence at the moment.

Hah. If the Aschen were still around I'd love to see the Prior walk onto their planet offering Origin. Molum would be quite unhappy.

Seldini the Aschen are still around, they were never wiped out

Though I would of like to see a Prior preach to the Tollan (G-d rest there arrogant souls)
They could of been a big help in defeating the Ori

"Because the show is about SG-1, and Earth saving the day, not a galatic co-op of advanced races teaming up and fighting evil. If you want that sort of thing, watch Star Trek.

In a similiar way the alliance of the Asguard, Furling, Nox and Ancients was to fight evil so yes it is about building alliances. Season 1-8 were all about finding allies and technology in our fight against the Goa'uld

Don't you think that would make an interesting storyline though? I thought Ethon was a great episode and it had alot to do with the planet split over the decision to embrace the Ori. Also most likely there are no other races struggling with the Ori yet, to our knowledge there is only one supergate if there was another and the Ori were trying to convert people one of allies would know about it

I have to disagree. I know that the show says the want to seek out alliances, but more often than not, it's SG-1 that saves the day.

Do you remeber the season 1 finale 2 part episode. In my opinion one of the greatests episodes of the series. This was truely SG-1 kicking the Goa'ulds ass, and this is what made the show great, Sure we had help from Bra'tac, but we should him how it's done.

It was us, out there fighting evil all on our lonesome. I think that this is what the writers are trying to back to. SG-1 out gunned, and outnumbered. They have done what you wanted in Camelot, and it was great - once. What do you expect to happen a second time? We gather all the races you mention, have a stand of with the Ori, and either we win, and the shows over, or we get blown to hell and the episode was just a waste.

Like I said, SG-1 needs to get back to it's roots and have them doing the fighting, not the ships. I think we are off to a good start with the fact that

                      Spoiler:
The Korolev is gone burgers, and the Oddessy is totally ineffective, and badly damaged.)

the directors did say they wanted to go back to the beginning like when we were helpless against the Goa'uld, a enemy so advanced it's a miracle we haven't been wiped from existence. In the same way the Ori have taken on that role while really putting the SGC in there place (as the very young race we are)

I agree in that episode 201 was very good, Though had Bratac not risked his neck with his 2 loyal Jaffa Sg-1 would of never gotten been able to destroy the ship in time to stop the destruction of Earth.
We threw our most powerful arsenal's at those ships with ALMOST no effect, the ship did shake . Maybe if we launched hundred's of nukes at them?

I recognize your point that it wouldn't be the same show if it was just an alliance of advanced races always winning but I guess I would like to see the series revisit some of these advanced races if not to gain technology or an alliance but to warn them against the Ori

i think about your last statment about advanced races and i come to the conclusion that the only races that would even give us the time of day would be the nox... and asgard. due to the tok'ra busy with their own affairs and the others being wiped out or not on good terms

I doubt the Nox would give us the time of day
                              For Example
                              in 107 - The Nox

The Jaffa that the Nox women heals stabs her, and yet when Jack tries to kill Apophis they stopped him. The Nox are fast learners they knew that the Goa'uld are not good people. Though as they states "We are still very young" and "our ways are not there way" makes you think about the fact that the asguard fight like we do (just with more advanced weaponry) meaning that they aren't as advanced as the Nox, whom IMO I think were second only to the Ancients and now ORI.
Though I would like to see a Prior visit the Nox homeworld. I wonder could he detect there Cloaked cities as he detected Mitchell in episode 911 using a Sodan (ancient) cloak
