Despite a Canadian dollar almost 11 cents higher against the U.S. dollar than it was one year ago, television production in the province is booming.
The B.C. Film Commission lists 13 registered series, compared to just six series and one miniseries underway in early May 2005. There are also five movies of the week in production, compared to just one and a pilot last May.
The series include mainstays Stargate SG-1, in its 10th year, Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica and The 4400, all shooting third seasons, and Robson Arms and Masters of Horror, each in season two.
