Composer Jerry Goldsmith passed away on July 21st. Cinescape has a very impressive review of Mr. Goldsmith's 50 years creating music for over 300 movies and television shows. (And, "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate Atlantis'" composer, Joel Goldsmith, is one of Jerry Goldsmith's children. SG1-Spoilergate again expresses our condolences to the Goldsmith family.)

..."The legacy music that he leaves behind – more than 300 film and television scores composed over half a century, 17 Oscar nominations (one win), five Emmy wins, nine Golden Globe nominations – remains itself a powerful and persuasive accolade to Jerry’s mastery of his art and craft. Goldsmith’s body of work has had an incredible and undeniable affect upon the development of motion picture music. He was one of the first to combine the burgeoning electronics of the 1970s with the symphony orchestra, and he experimented with all manner of styles and textures and musical demeanors."
