Great work.
Heightmeyer is one of my favourites too and she's got so much potential, but unfortunately TPTB don't always write her accurately. There have been one or two moments when I wonder where she got her pyschology degree from. I wish they'd do a little bit more research.

I'll do my best I'm in the middle of a Dr Who/Atlantis crossover at the moment but I've come up against some problems with the publishing of it on the BBC, which may result in me telling them where to put the future chapters, if that happens I'll be free to write the Flashback Fic

I think I remember Weir saying in "The Eye" that they would give Sora back to try to make peace with the Genii, but I can't remember anything else after that. I missed some of the beginning episodes of Season 2, so it could be in one of those episodes... :)

YAY! I'm so focused when I come to GW that I rarely notice anything other than the threads that I lurk or post in... So, yeah... Just wanted to say this is COOL! We need them to put that 'girls poker night' in to season3, like, seriously. Remember all the poker stuff in ST:TNG? That was cool and gave some character dimension AND interaction. I would love to see what the ladies are like when off the clock.

I must say that I've loved Leonor Varela ever since I saw her in Blade 2, I think she is gorgeous and was very happy to see her in SGA as Chaya Sar

I must say that I've loved Leonor Varela ever since I saw her in Blade 2....

So, that was Leonor in Blade 2...I thought she looked sorta familiar but I wasn't a 100 % sure it was Chaya....

Yes that's her, I ripped the pic from her official site, it's one of her magazine/modelling pics. But you are right it does look like the princess (who got to snog Connor Trinneer lucky thing!!), especially with that particular dress on, it's a very similar cut and colour. :)

We can wait and in the meantime a little update on the 'little angels'-stuff I'm working on -> I'm gettin' there. I decided on making a banner and an avvie for each angel. All in the same style and yet still slightly diffirent.

We can wait and in the meantime a little update on the 'little angels'-stuff I'm working on -> I'm gettin' there. I decided on making a banner and an avvie for each angel. All in the same style and yet still slightly diffirent.

And I wrote a teenyweeny story, I think they call it a drabble... It's really not much, and I could use some feedback. I have no idea where it came from and there's not one bunny inside my head that claims the idea as its own. It's a Kate Heightmeyer one again...

Imagine if they made SG: Atlantis featuring the only the secondary characters (both male/female and SG1/Atlantis). Who would you put in charge? Who would make up the Team? Scientists? Doctors?
I'd put Dr Svetlana Markov(a) (Watergate) in charge and I think Major Davies would have to be there somewhere but I can't imagine him as leader of the team. Capt Daria Voronkova (Full alert) would be a good choice or Col. Dixon (Heroes). So how would I fit in Novak, Heightmeyer, Zelenka, Bates and Grodin?

Mmm, interesting question....

I agree on Dr. Markov in charge. She has proven she can handle herself in a stressfull situation such as Watergate. And it would probably make the Russians happy they have someone in command, but that's beside the point. Major Davis could be her military advisor of sorts. The liaison between the military and the civilians (I don't know, it's just a suggestion).

About the team... I think I'll put Colonel Dixon in charge of the team. He seemed like a fun guy and trustworthy(and is played by Adam Baldwin, an added bonus though I can't help but see Jayne Cobb every time I see him in one show or another).

Dr. Radek Zelenka is the scientist on the team. He would take the place that Rodney has on Sheppard's team. And Capt Daria Voronkova could be Dixon's 2IC. We should have at least two military people on board, or at least two people who know how to fight their way out of a possible explosive/dangerous situation, though I'm fairly sure scientists have their own little ways of getting out of hazardous situations. I'm sure they would McGyver something out of nothing.

As fourth member on the team I'd go with Dr. Peter Grodin. I know he's dead and all but I think he would make a great asset to the team and would be a good help to Zelenka. You know, they can bounce ideas of one another, in a more civilized way than Rodney does with Zelenka. Or and this might be even better and she's still alive. We put Dr. Miko Kusanagi on the team. She'd get a kick out of going off-world with Zelenka.

I'd keep Sergeant Bates as a Security Officer. He did a good job and we can certainly trust him to protect the city/base of operation.

I think Dr. Lindsey Novak is some sort of engineer or something and we can definitely use one of those. She can be on another team who occasionally goes off-world when needed but mostly stays on base and makes sure our alien technology is put to good use. And if she wants to she can always ask for Hermiod's assistence. They're great together.

Now, I don't think Dr. Kate Heightmeyer would be happy on an off-world team being a psychologist and all. If she wants to explore the galaxy, she can join a team of her choice and go off to have some fun. But for the main part she should be keeping people's emotional sanity in check. And make sure they're all happy and not drowning in stress. Some fanfic-writers have suggested Heightmeyer is the sort of person who would teach yoga. Yup, I'm gonna put her in charge of the fun-team. That's the team that keeps up morale. And Lt. Laura Cadman is definitely a member of that team.

Of course, the botanical team is in the hands of Dr. Katie Brown.

Anyone else have any ideas? We could create our own show like this. :cool:

Ah yes, the Adam Baldwin love. Mainly the reason I suggested him.

I saw Voronkova (or Voronokova, Vorankova, etc) as the more capable Russian version of Major Davies. I think she'd be a great off-world team member, practical, calm, and fearless but it hasn't been seen on the show :( so thats more fannon than cannon.

I always secretly thought Bates and Grodin were running Atlantis. While all the main players were off having exciting adventures and saving the world, Bates and Grodin were keeping the city going, organising the laundry rotas, repairing the essential but not very dramatic systems and breaking up food fights in the canteen. ;)

I think she's more terrified of Rodney than anything else. I mean, the way they showed her in Letters From Pegasus it was like she was kissing the floor Rodney walked on. They portrayed her as a McKay-follower. But I think she'd be more comfortable at Radek's side.

On the yoga-matter... I was watching The Gift with audio commantary by Peter Deluise and Gary Jones (the latter having no idea what he was doing there). They talked a lot of nonsense but not during the cafetaria scene between Kate and Teyla. Apparently Claire Rankin and Rachel know each other and Peter Deluise said they'd probably spend their evenings together talking about all sorts of stuff and practicing (and here it comes) yoga. I couldn't help but laugh at that.

The Day Off. What do they do in their free time.

What does Heightmeyer do on her day off? I posted in another thread that i though she was the Atlantis character most likely to appear on Sex and City. I can just imagine her relaxing with a glass of wine in front of Desprate Housewives, except of course they don't have either on Atlantis and shoe shopping would be out of the question. ;) I guess this idea comes from the fact she always looks good, appeared in about 5 different outfits in only three episodes and seems to be ultra professional and sophistcated.

Novak. I think she'd be busy working on something technical, trying to improve a system whilest occasionally moaning that everyone always expects too much from her. I see her as MacKays twin in this respect. I think working with Hermoid would also get a mention.

Cooper and Cadman I think would be one of the boys. Whatever their male collauges would be doing they'd be doing too, probabley a really competative sport or physical exerise.

And luckily I'm not drinking anything or I would have choked on it, laughing. But maybe you're not that far off. You know you could replace that wine with an Athosian equivalent and the DH with a good book (could be fiction or non-fiction...haven't decided on that yet) and an i-pod or some other MP3-player though I wouldn't know exactly what sort of music she'd like. What goes with ultra-professional and sophisticated? Classical tunes? Jazz? Definitely no beats allowed, it would disturb the peace and quiet...

Heightmeyer has a peaceful aura surrounding her, making her a great psychologist. I'd probably open up to her in a heartbeat and tell her my life-story and what not. And I've said it before, and I'll say it again but I bet she does yoga in her free time.

Or we got it all wrong, which is of course something we'll probably never know, and when she's not working she likes to go out and be one with nature. Explore the unknown, live life. I mean, when living under the thread of the Wraith I can imagine you'd want to enjoy life twice as much as usual.

Oh yeah, I see her working on some invention or something else that might improve the Daedalus or life aboard the ship. Or, she'd have Hermiod teach her something Asgardian which she can use in her invention. She'd probably mutter about McKay thinking he's the all-knowing science guy but I doubt she actually means that.

Or, she could be exploring Atlantis' systems, absorb the new technology. You know, get off the ship and be in the city itself.



Cooper and Cadman I think would be one of the boys. Whatever their male collegueas would be doing they'd be doing too, probably a really competative sport or physical excercise.

I don't know about Cooper. Maybe she keeps herself busy with a flightsimulator, or familiarizing herself more with the ship. I think she's the kind of girl who loves the car more than the boyfriend (instead of the other way around).

And Cadman... She's the 'tapdancing explosives expert' :p, and she has a boyfriend. So maybe she and Carson spend their free time together, occasionally and when they're not together she's hanging out with the guys, showing off in the gym, after all she's a marine.


If only we could ask Claire, Ellie and Jaime what they think about their characters and what they would do in their free time.;)

I think theaviarymovie.com (or something similar) is the main seller. Because it's such a small movie it hasn't got a cinema release or widespread DVD release. I know that it's touring various film festivals and such so if you're very, very lucky it maybe shown at one near you. Regarding reigons they sell to 'the rest of the world' :rolleyes: so they probably have an R2 version. I'd love to see it too but I'm hesitante about buying over the internet unless it's something like Amazon, another one to chalk up to bad experiance :(.

Claire Rankin is a possibility in the future, I'm in good contact with her agent for some works for her so maybe an interview will be done some day.

May I present the completely fake KateWear.ca. A post devoted to Heightmeyers style and sophistication despite being stuck in an alien outpost a million miles from the nearest Prada.

As a Psychologist Kate wears the cream tops and beige or tan trousers exclusive to the Medical Dept. However she has yet to match the Dept. Head, Carson Beckett who has also been seen wearing clothes from the Science and Military Depts. Only the Command Red eludes him.

The White Roll Neck Top.
The first thing she wears and the only non-Expedition top. Exclusively Kates, she wears this in The Gift before changing to her favourite outfit for the rest of the episode

The Zippered Expedition Top.
A popular choice among the Atlantis Ex. Many people have been seen wearing this either in the long sleeved or short sleeved version. Clearly Kates favourite as she wore this for most of The Gift, and in Duet and Michael.

V neck T-Shirt with Short Sleeves.
Complete with slimming dark coloured side panels, Kate only wore this for two scenes in Michael, forcing Elizabeth Weir to exchange hers for a round neck T-Shirt. Later Weir switches back and Kate changes into the zipped one. Wearing the same style top whilst standing next to a female colleague is clearly an Atlantis social faux pas.

Obviously the more popular of the two as she wears this for three whole scenes in Duet. With all this constant top changing is Kate trying to hide the fact she only has one pair of trousers?

The Tan Trousers.
She wears these all the time as they complement every top she owns, both in colour and style. They have pockets to hide sweets in and seem to have zips up the side, do they convert into shorts?
Don’t step on my Brown Suede Shoes.
Instead of the hiking boots everyone else seems to wear Kate has opted for slip on brown suede shoes. Much more comfortable and easier to identify among every ones else’s.

The Black Strapped Watch and Expedition Headset.
This watch is the only accessory Kate wears. It looks like a diving watch, very handy if your home is called Atlantis.
Michael is the first time Kate wears her headset, no longer in her counselling role and now part of the command team, she can afford the interruptions and chatter.

The Penlight and Personal Organiser.
The Personal Organiser appears in the background in The Gift, is Kate arranging another appointment for Rodney McKay or merely playing Sudoku? Kate also has the ubiquitous Atlantis laptop.
The Penlight is an important plot device. Not only does it show off Kates perfect manicure but it also helps defeat the Wraith...in it’s own way.

The Hair.
A beautiful honey blonde, falling to just past her shoulders. Kate curled her hair for The Gift and went for a side parting. She goes for a straighter look in Duet, perhaps the Wraith stole her curling tongs during the Siege, however it’s back to it’s usual beautiful coiffed look in Michael, just slightly longer.

On a slightly more serious note (but only slightly :P) I think the Atlantis look suits Claire Rankin the best. The colours, the styles and the fit, coupled with the hair and makeup. It’s as if the costume department knew that Claire would be in the show and designed the Expedition look accordingly. ;) My favourite is the same as Kate’s, the zippered top.

Bella -> KateWear.ca & DariaWear.ru -> these are brilliant... I especially love the Kate one (go figure!)

Oh, one more thing you should have added with Kate...her watch, it switches wrists. It goes from left to right. In The Gift and Duet it's on her left wrist, while the watch moves to her right wrist in Michael.

And last but certainly not least...

Secondary characters deserve some loving, they deserve to be praised just as much as the primary ones. And if we don't let the actors know how we feel about their performance then they don't know how much of an impact they have on the fans and the universe their character exists in.
BTW, the more loving they get, the bigger the chance we might see them again... (is not always a guarantee but we can try)

I think it's OK as it is. If you really want to be pedantic you could try changing the font or adding shadow to the text. But the image crop and compesition (sp?) is perfect, as is the quote.

I didn't notice the watch switching wrists, probabley because I was too busy trying find usable pics of it.

See, the font...I knew it...no, seriously, I'm not too happy with it either but I don't have that much fonts to choose from...

BUT now that I have that site which Annie Sheppard provided me where I could find the font she used for her Teyla-sig...now I can change it to something more suitable...something i truly like.

Thanks for the feedback. The problem with the light coloured ones are that it only really works on pics with strong coloured hair, eyes and lips.

Those Darn Alien Spores - Porthos1013 (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2993910/1/) A fun 'Aliens made them do it!' story and a suprise ship for Miko Kusangi. :P Second favourite quote: “So, you think this virus or the alien spores or whatever could be affecting their judgment?
