    Ori soldier's weapons

Is it me, or did the end of that weapon look like the pointy end of the wraith stunner used in season 1.

I was thinking: To minimize costs, they pulled out the old props from SG1 for the wraith, and reused the huge stunner weapons for the new ori weapons.

I'm guessing this. They look so similar, except instead of a long thin staff, it has a bunch of artistic writings on it.

They are very different props. The Ori weapons have more in common with melee weapons, similar to the Jaffa Staff Weapons, except with a pointy, stab-y end.

Hopefully they can shoot in full automatic, that would be so cool.

Those are alot different from the staffs except for the size. The energy beam is different and it is alot thinner.

I like the new Ori Staves. I was also hoping that they would be able to fire in auto mode, otherwise they'll just be another "Weapon of Terror" like the Goa'uld Staff Weapons. This would mean that they're not a "Weapon of War" like our fast shooting assault rifles and submachineguns.

What it seamed to me is that it was fired at will so the user may fire shot by shot or automatic shots when the situation requiers it. This way the Ori staff weapon can also be a "weapon of terror" and a "weapon of war", the user being the one who chooses the mode (off/terror/war) .

It can also be used as a giant shish-ka-bob for prostration BBQs.

So in the stargate universe, any culture using weapons shaped as staves are the unwitting pawns of evil beings more advanced than they are?

                  Not really...

The Alterans (Ancients & Ori) were the first to develop these energy shooting stick weapons. When the Ancients settled in the Milky Way than began to either die off or ascend, the Goa'uld came along and decided to base their technology around that of the Ancients. So thats how you end up with the Goa'uld using staff weapons, whereas the Ori are armed with the original design.

I think it's time for them to do a raiding party on the planets that they know Anubus was making Kull warriors. During their raid they need to definitely confiscate some of that energy absorbing armor to protect themselves from that stuff. Too bad they can't use that armor and find a way to use the technology in their own shields. Or find one of Anubis's ships, and borrow their shields. At least they know that stuff was created by the ancients and that they would likely be able to mount a better defence using it then with what they have.
