I've had a SF novel published...

    Hi,

I just came across this forum on google. I am a sci-fi author with a first novel that's proved quite popular with sci-fi fans in the UK and elsewhere.

I was hoping to share some details of my new book with people here, but I don't want to be seen as intruding. Is there a literature section where I could post a link to my book's website?

Thanks for any pointers, and sorry for the self-promotion.

I believe there is a FanFic section around here somewhere. That would be the best place for you to look.

      Hi,

Thanks, but I think the Fan Fic section is about stargate.... I might feel no less awkward posting there

My novel isn't exactly about time travel, though it does span something of the order of 50,000 years of multigenerational voyaging through space inside a naturally contained 'miniature Earth' type of ark.

There was a review on this forum:

      cheers!

Thanks for sharing and well done on your book being successful. You didn't link to the other article, but here's one that'll do

There isn't a literature section at this forum, but literature fits into this section. We've had threads before for specific books and for "what sort of SF books do you like" discussion, but none for GWers who have had fiction published, so this thread is a good place to start. I've renamed it, and if anyone wants to publicise SF books they've written or to comment on books publicised in the thread, then fire away.

I'm really interested in reading the review of your book, but the links appear to not be working. Any other link?

Wow, that sounds very intriguing! I remember reading Orphans of the Sky by Robert Heinlein that had a similar premise. Have you read that one? I must say, your book sounds like a much more realized story. When I'm able to purchase and read your book, I'll let you know what I think.

Thanks very much for the info!

I am hoping to turn the concept into a series of books. With the ark cruising at a constant speed of 60,000 m.p.h. it is going to take roughly 50,000 years to reach Alpha Centauri (4.3 light years or 25,000,000,000,000 miles away from us in space!).

There is an outline of how I originally visualised the story, here:-

                http://www.astroscience.org/abdul-ah...hacentauri.htm

I am almost finished on my second book, and it's hopefully going to be out by summer 2006.

With good wishes to everyone here,

The review sounds quite promising. I Might have to check out your book/s one day if i remember on one of my journeys to the book store.
Science Fiction is an existential metaphor; it allows us to tell stories about the human condition.

Isaac Asimov once said individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today, but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all.
