I voted for In the Line of Duty even though there are a few episodes that I would consider my favorite. It's really hard for me to choose between this one and Show and Tell and Message in a Bottle, but I chose In the Line of Duty because it was such a cool concept to introduce. A good Gou'ald? What the heck? I really didn't see it coming when I first watched the episode. And of course I found it a wee bit shippy. What can I say? I am what I am.

To be honest, I have more than one favourite episode for this season, so it is a real toughie. My answer always changes but this time I went for Serpent's Song. The hosts and their fate has always been a powerful subtext for me in the Stargate saga, and their plight haunts me in the same way that Ernst's life in Torment of Tantalus torments me still!
The scene when Apophis's host 'awakes' is so powerful, I still cry every time I see it. Peter Williams is a fantastic actor.

Can't choose here. I actually think S2 is nice to watch, holds my interest while the ep is showing and then loses it.
Wait... Foothold is interesting, but I can't remember why.

Maybe because Foothold is a season 3 ep and S3 is your favorite season...? ;)

ah pooh.... I really can't think of an S2 ep that I really like
ETA: Need has some nice parts, but it is cringeworthy so I'm not voting for that either.

I voted for In the line of Duty, but I almost voted for Secrets. They are both really good episodes I really like the idea of "good"/less evil ;) gou'ald and I really like the character of Jacob.
I think the whole Tok'ra arc is great despite/because of the fact that I really don't trust any of the Tok'ra besides Jacob ;)
It adds a nice shade of grey to the whole SG universe.

I like The Tok'ra 1&2. The introduction of a new race that was fighting the Goa'uld was neat. Love both the Martouf and Jacob characters.
Oh, wait, I like the Fifth Race too.

Martouf was an interesting character, but he always made me want to grit my teeth. I never felt like I could trust him, and I could totally relate to how Jack reacted around him.

You've all cited great episodes, but for me it's the Tok'ra Pt. 1 & 2. This entire group of secret warriors is such a great concpet. Besides, I really love Jacob Carter and Martouf is easy on the eyes.

I had to go for the Fifth Race, one of the best episodes ever, but there are so many to choose from.
Need was brilliant, so was In the Line of Duty, I was fascinated by the Tok'ra from the beginning and Serpent's Song was outstanding as well.
It really is why I can't decide whether Season 2 or 3 is the best ever.

This one was even tougher than Season 1! I love almost all of the Season 2 eps and there were 5 that I really couldn't choose between so in the end I went for 1969 because even though the concept of Time travel still gets me in a muddle I do enjoy trying to figure it out :)

It was a close call between Fifth Race and 1969. I do love time travel plots, but the Fifth Race was such a powerful episode I had to choose it.

I picked The Serpent's Lair though it's not good without Within the Serpent's Grasp from season one. I just love a good "let's shoot our way out of the mothership" episode! :p

The Tok'ra P1 & P2 for me. It was pretty much the first time we got a good insight about the Tok'ra and I thought they pulled it off nicely.
I also thought Serphents Song, Fifth Race, Prisoners and Thor's Chariot were high quality episodes in Season 2.

I voted for "In The Line Of Duty" in the end,for several reasons.
The beginnings of the Tok'Ra storylines.
Jolinar/Sam dominance struggle.
The way the whole team played out the story.IMO,great "Team" ep.
The beginning of Sam's accessing Jolinar's remnant memories and the physical and mental after-effects.........

i voted for The Line of Duty, because not only is it my fav season 2 eppy but has to be one of my favs overall.
Great acting by amanda tapping and the rest of the cast.
see jack getting ready to talk to her and then teal'c giving advice to him.
the end with sam and cassie was a really good sceen and way to finish off the episode.

1969 was one of my favourite episodes of Season 2 as well, I especially like the scene in the cell when the guard enters and speaks to Daniel:
Soldier: (Speaking Russian) You Sovient Spies?
Daniel: Nyet. (Translation - No)
O'Neill: Daniel?
Daniel: He just asked if we were sovient spies. I just .....
Its the look on Daniels face when he realizes his error and O'Neills face at him like he can't believe this one, just funny how O'Neill and Daniel play off one another.
But my vote for the best season 2 episode is The Fifth Race - funny episode as well as setting up future encounters with the Asgard etc.
Again the interaction between Daniel and O'Neill is top - especially did - did not - did - did not! :D

Thor's Chariot had some very good moments ;) but I went with Message in a Bottle. It's just a very well paced story from beginning to end.

Secrets! Love the helmets, Sha're, Abydos, Heru'ur and the introduction of Jacob!
I think it's the only time outside of the feature where we actually get to see the morphing of the Horus guard helmet, and it looks even better here than it did on the big screen, IMHO.
I was the only one who voted Gamekeeper and I know it's a controversial episode in many quarters, but I can't resist the look into the pasts of both O'Neill and Daniel. It's instantly accessible to the neophyte but gains significance among those who know Jack and Daniel well. It's a natural extension of the feature film and even features some nifty AU elements. An all around great effort.

OOh that was a toughie.
It was ultimately between the fifth race (meeting the Asgard properly and the repository of knowledge) and the episode I ultimately went for 1969. I love everything about this episode - the music, the outfits, the story, even Daniel's german accent is so stupid that its funny. I also love that they pretend they're aliens and Hammond, both old and young. Wonder whether he paid General Hammond back?

There are so many good eps in Season 2 it was hard to pick one and it was nearly the Fifth Race. But Holiday swung it purely because no-one else has voted for it. I love this ep, the whole body switching thing is classic and I just love the line "thank you for my holiday". Here's a guy who has spent so long devoting time to destroying the goa'uld getting a chance to go out and enjoy the world, if only for a short time. Ahhh.

I voted for The Fifth Race, like most people it seems! I just love learning about alien races, and this introduction to the ancients and an overload of new information was tantalizing. Jack as the techie genius was pretty neat. Locking in another chevron was exciting, as was seeing the Asgard homeworld.
I also loved: In the Line of Duty (fantastic Sam episodes, and intro to Tokra), Need (Daniel is so hot when he's evil, and loved learning about the sarc), and Thor's Chariot (I like those people, and who can't like a giant Asgard mothership?).

Fifth Race, simply amazing episode. I don't think I've ever seen an episode that made me want to keep watching the series as much as that episode. And 6 seasons later I still am. :p Kudos to the writers of that one it was a stunning episode.
Matter of Time is a close second.

Oh, I forgot to say: I didn't particularly like 1969. I sort of disliked it in fact. If felt like a total filler episode to me, and it seemed to have no purpose whatsoever in regards to the SG1 storyline. I still don't get why they had to go back in time, shouldn't they just never have had to go back in time at all? *sighs*
However, I did find Teal'c's fro highly amusing, and I did like the young, rather dashing Hammond.

I think my favourite is probably A Matter of Time. It raised a lot of moral issues, delved into Jack's past and was a really cool concept too! Secrets is a close second, it was so sad :(

I really enjoyed the ep '1969', except when they were showing
landmarks of the cross country trip and for Chicago they
showed the Sears Tower, which wasn't built until around 1973.

I agree, season two has some great sam episodes. I liked the tokra story, and i thought both sam and jack's storylines in secrets were very moving. However, although i love daniel, i thought the part on abydos was quite weak. It just seemed to be a load of random things happening rather than an actual plot, and the acting didn't fit. Maybe it was because i expected too much of the long-awaited "I'll return in one year".
Serpent's song was beautifully moving and had really good emotional acting from all the cast. But my season favourite has to be A Matter of Time. The special fx sequence at the beginning captivated me, and the episode never missed a beat. I loved the scene with sam explaining wormholes to jack again, the cool time dilation idea: "We called an all-night session with the President and the Joint Chiefs. I've been gone nearly eighteen hours." - "I thought you were on the phone." And the scenes with Jack and Cromwell were excellent - great Jack angst. The whole episode was well written.

I voted for Touchstone. I really loved the set on this one and it always stuck in my mind because of it. I also liked that it really set things in motion for the whole story arcs about the other Stargate being used.
Other favourites of mine for this series are The Gamekeeper, The Fifth Race, Holiday and 1969. I do love the time travel ones in general.

The Fifth Race was the one that instantly came to mind, along with 1969 - both fab eps...
Prisoners was another I particularly enjoyed. Seeing the ethics flying out of the window and releasing that woman from Hadante...set up a nice story arc for the future there...

I don't even know why I'm doing it to myself :P Trying to choose one from so many...;)
Anyway, I voted for Secrets. I've lost count how many times I watched this episode. It had a nice continuity with going back to Abydos and giving Sam and Jack medals for saving the world (although they were recognised for it for the first and the last time in the entire series), it introduced Jacob and the NID black ops, and of course we met Share again. And Kasuf. And Apophis. And Heru'ur..need I go on? :P It's a great episode in terms of moving the plot and at the same time it's a character piece and what's even more rare: everybody gets their own story and something to do. Wonderful.
Still, I had trouble deciding between secrets and 1969, which I also love. And then there's In the Serpent's Lair, A Matter of Time, Serpent's Song and of course The Fifth Race..

That's a tough one. Either The Fifth Race or The Serpent's Lair. But I voted for Serpent's Lair, because apparently Fifth Race already has a bunch of votes. ;)
But I also think that Thor's Chariot, Secrets, and Serpent's Song are all wonderful classic eps with a lot of depth to them. They all have some great character moments, nice team interaction, and they all add important new twists to the overall storylines.
And on a purely fun level, I always enjoy Spirits and 1969. :)

I love Secrets! It may not be winning the poll, but I think most fans think it is a pretty important episode... the problem is that there are just so many great episodes to choose from. :) Plus, The Fifth Race is pretty much the Classic because it introduces the Asgard. It was a cool and dramatic way to introduce them as a race, and the whole episode has this sense of wonder about it that pretty much defines the early SG-1 style. So I can definitely see why it's winning the poll... even though there are other really good classic episodes from this season (including Secrets).
