How stealth are the F-302?(Ethon spoiler)

The Rand/Ori satellite was able to detect F-302

But the radar early warning system were unable to detect missile fitted with 302 stealth material.

The senor on the statille were probably base on Ori technologies..

So why use espense stealth material on F-302 if advance enemy can detect them, and primative enemy can't destory F-302.

But the Ori are giving primative planet like Rand nation abilities to detect 302 stealth.

If the Rand were given more time to adopt the satellite's tech into their other defence system, they would have been able to detect the stealth missile.

Their early warning system, was what they already had to detect the Caledonian launches & pre-empitive attacks, that wasn't Ori tech. The Sat wasn't Ori tech either, it was Ori designed & even with primitive tech, it still picked up the 302. So against primitive nations, like Earth in real life, it would be pretty much impossible to take out.

Against Wraith Darts, Goa'uld Gliders & other races with equally sized craft, then in some cases it's a 50/50 split, on who gets the lucky shot in first. However in all engagements, the 302 starts with a dis-advantage, that being it's fuel efficency & also the lack of weapons. They can only carry so much armaments & in a firefight, can be used up very quickly. Therefore small fighters with energy weapons, have an immediate advantage over the 302's.

So to answer your question, they use it, simply because it's the best that they currently have. Sure other races have better craft & detection methods. Which might make the 302 totally ineffective, but there is a need for small fighters in space combat. So while it might not be the best out there. It's currently the best that the SGC has. So they need to make do with what they have.

Anyone as developed as 1950's US would be able to detect and possibly shoot down a 302, the stealth helps with that if neccessary.

It's possible to detect F-22s, F-117s and B-2s using the most basic radar sets from the 1940s, if you can see it then you can shoot at it so ike you say it's possible.

The ineffectiveness of stealth technology is the primary reason why other nations haven't invested in it as heavily as the US has done.
