Making a ZPM?

How come they just don't make a ZPM?

Its safe to assume the Ancients made them, and if thats the case, wouldn't there be step-by-step instructions in their computers on how to make them, as well as the technology to make them in Atlantis?

A very good point. Maybe they have not found the manufacturing equipment yet. But it cant be that hard all you have to do is run a search on the database and then get the info on where abouts it is (eg. which tower, floor ect) then upload the instructions and then go!

Atlantis is a large city, they probably haven't found the manufacturing plant for ZPMs yet, if Atlantis even had them, maybe the facilities are on another planet?

Don't forget, after a year of work, they'd only managed to decode a tiny fraction of the Atlantean database, so they may not have stumbled on ZPM construction methods yet. Not to mention the fact that they need a proper understanding of how ZPMs work before they start messing abotu with something that can detonate a planet if used incorrectly.

That's probably also the reason they haven't fixed Camulus ZPM and plugged it into the SGC yet, if they do something slightly wrong with the unit, they could wreck it or cause it to become unstable.

Simple reason, from a storytelling point of view. Its way to early in the gateverse for humans to be able to manufacture ZPMs. Even when they find a plant for doing so.

however, that should not stop the writers to drop a hint that the atlantis crew has infact searched the database for such a place and came up nothing.

As we know, a Zero Point Module is a self-contained region of subspace-time. I believe an anomaly has to be generated first that has to do with subspace. A controlled environment probably must be established in order to set up the subspace anomaly. Then, perhaps containment can be established to keep the power source intact. Of course, that's just what I believe. Still have a long way to go before the power problem can be truly addressed.

Ancients definitely were the ones to build the ZPM's, The fact in question is why don't they have many more of them lying around.

The ZPM's were created by the ancients but can't be merely created by themselves. There must have been some kind of scientific anomoly that kept reacurring. So were then able to harness power from it and create the ZPM. If it was something they could have done with minimal required aspects to the creation of the ZPM's there would be a lot more of them around. Instead they are incredibly rare and most likely are soon to be history if someone doesn't figure out how to create them or even recharge them.

I agree, they just haven't found the facility or research on the matter. Also, what fun would that be ....then they just power up atlantis and fly back home hehehe

Maybe the Wraith collected as many as they could find. Even if they can't use them, they'd want to keep that power out of others hands.
