I got the season 1 DVDs as a gift and am watching them and the thought occurred to me that this would be a really great show assuming the people making it actually know where its going.

Do you think they have some plan, or is this just a never ending "lets just make it up as we go because it seems kind of cool" series?

I mean I think one-off search and explores work great for shows like stargate (and even in that show they have wrapped up storylines) but in this show I really want to know whats going on. So I hope someone actually knows that answer. If not I will find this show ultimatly very disappointing.

So, does anything get wrapped up in the end of season one? How about the beginning of season 2?

Does anyone think there is actually a plan? Or is it just a fiction version of survior?

I read an interview once with the producers, and they maintained that there is a plan and answers to all of this mystery found in the show...but will be revealed in time. They said that they did not want to make the mistake that X-Files might have did with their viewers. Too much unanswered questions, assumptions and hanging plotlines.

Let's hope they keep to their word. I personally, would like to see some answers revealed just as well...it can get frustrating with all this mystery. Some is good, but it can be overdone equally.

I read an article long ago where Abrams pitched a 3-year story arc to ABC - with an ENDING. If ABC chose to add seasons, the arc could be "extended" to possibly 5 seasons. If it went beyond that, they would have to come up with new ideas.

Since it is such a big hit, I get the feeling TPTB feel the need to draw out the story, hence, the "slowing down" that everyone is feeling.

Perhaps instead of flashbacks and annoying filler stories, we could see what was happning on the side of the rescue mission...and perhaps, they end up rescuing someone...and perhaps it appears to be our hero(s)...but perhaps it really isn't...then they can drag it out some more...

Now that I think about it..there's not a lot of ways you can go with a show with the gist of Lost. :S It's more like a Mini-series, really...

I will be happy if it is like a mini-series. Mini-series have endings and this show needs an ending. If I thought this show was just episodic, making it up as they go, then it would probably not be worth my time. But Kensterman, FoolishPleasure and Qasim have all given me hope, and I eagerly await the next set of DVDs (since I am too late to jump into this season from start).
