Rank: Lieutenant Colonal
Age: 45
Position: SG-5 Commanding Officer
Specialty: F-302 pilot
Hair color: Dark, very short

He later bounce around from assignment to assignment, until he was given temporary command over SG-5 while awaiting for the new F-302A research base (Codenamed: Foxtrot Base) to be completed. Unfortunately, the latest mission of SG-5 was going to be his last and he wasn't give the loaction of Foxtrot Base. Richardson's driving force is to find Foxtrot Base and the new F-302A, and to find out why they havn't contacted Alpha Base.

Name:Mickey Mckay
Rank : 2nd Lieutenant; RCM
Age:24
Position: SG-5
Specialty: Piloting & Weapons
Hair color: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Nationality: Canadian
ATA gene: nope, not yet...
Appearance: Tall and Muscular
History:
Joined the Royal Canadian Air Cadets at 12. In the program he did exceptionally well. At 18 he was forced to retire from the program because of his age. He left the program to attend an engineering course at MIT, he did well, But not extremely well. Mad, he went on to join the Royal Canadian Air Force, after 2 years in RMC he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant (pronounced Lef-tenant)
Since Mckay did so well, he was opted for an officer exchange to the SGC. Amazingly, at the SGC he tended to hang around Siler and Harriman. After the replicator incursion he helped fend off the little buggers. He impressed a lot of people, Gator noticed his talents and recruited him for SG-5.

Personality:
Mckay enjoys fencing and boxing. He can sometimes be irrational and annoying, He enjoys watching Star Trek and MacGyver(heh).

Here, can we make a compromise? I have even added stuff to make you more like your name shake.

Name: Dr. Mickey Mckay
Rank: Lieutenant in the Canadian Forces Air Command (same as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Air Force)
Age: 24
Position: SG-5
Specialty: PhD in Astrophysics and a basic pilot.
Hair color: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Nationality: Canadian
ATA gene: No
Appearance: Tall and Muscular

Lt. Mckay was assigned to the Atlantus outpost left behind by the Ancients in Antarctica representing Canadian interests, where he quickly became an expert on Ancient technology. A year later, Lt. Mckay was assign to SG-5 as part of the officer exchange program. There, he was off-world when Earth was destroyed.

We can make SG-5 anything we want it to be. We could have been on a 3-week (Col. Sharp has told me that 2/3 weeks have pass since Earth was destroyed.) diplomatic mission, when we couldn't get to Earth. I am currently looking for good ideas on why we havn't turn up on Alpha Base yet.

So, have we actually made it back to the Alpha Site yet? Or are we still floating around in "space," figuring out what to do?

I was thinking we were on a extended mission (for what reason, I am still at a loss for right now). When we didn't hear back from Earth, we didn't think much of it. At the end of the mission, we realized something must be wrong and headed to the Alpha Site. Since Colonal Sharp has told me 2 to 3 weeks has passed since Earth was destoryed, this seems plausible.

Roll-Playing is basicly how it sounds, you play a choosen roll. Here, roll-play is based off a fandom and I would described it as highly evolving, multi-author, fanfiction.

There is action and there is speaking. Example:

*Col. Richardson step out of the Stargate and looked around. All he saw were trees.*

Well, this is great. Trees...

In this roll-play universe, we are most likely going to fight/interact with a lot of NPCs (Non-Player Characters) and you can pretty much do what you want to do with them. However, let's say two PCs (Player Character) get into a fight:

Player One:

*Jason has had enough of Simmons. So without warning, he turns around quickly, balls his fist, and aims for Simmons mocking smile.*

Player Two (first possibility):

*Simmons, being fast on his feet, saw the punch and quickly duck.*

Player Two (2nd possibility):

*Simmons, being caught completely off guard, took the punch full in the face.*

Now if you notice, Player One didn't say that the punch landed. This is called, "Action and Reaction". You can choose and plot out your actions, but you cannot plot out other's reaction.

This is basic 101 of forum Roll-Play. If you have other questions, I will be more than happy to help you.

November 14th, 2005, 08:12 PM
Hi!
I've been trying to figure out a bunch of stuff about how this all works (I will never speak ill of Sharp, he's been a huge help to such a clueless noob). Haven't got my bio approved yet, but here it is in its raw form;

Name: Paul 'White Knight' Marshall

Rank: (Captain? Please?), US Marine Corps

Age: 36

Specialty: Infantry combat and tactics

Hair color: Blonde

Eyes: Blue

Nationality: American/Australian

ATA gene: No

Appearance: Everyone, look at my [CENSORED] photoshop job! (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b238/Bronzethumb2000/avalon1x522.jpg). Marshall has several notable scars and such: bullet scars on his neck and chest, and his right earlobe is missing.

History: The son of an influential Marine Corps General, Marshall got all the best postings thrown at him after he graduated from Officer School. Even though he was more than skilled enough to exel in the Corps, he was dogged by rumours of favourtism when he joined a Marine Force Recon Unit, which he eventually was given command of.
After many successful years in command, he was tranferred to Stargate Command and took command of an SG-team. For several more years he led his unit with distinction, until a bad call on Marshall's part caused the deaths of five SFs and two members of his team. Wanting to avoid more favourtism rumours, the Corps demoted Marshall and ordered him off active field duty, and (then CO) General Hammond posted Marshall in an ultimatly useless position at the Alpha Site.
He remained there for several years, becoming more and more bitter towards the military, until the destruction of Earth and the formation of Alpha Site teams...

Other Important Facts: Marshall's hobbies consist of reading and chess. He has a large novel collection, and his chess hobby earned him the nickname 'White Knight' in college. He drinks a lot of coffee, and aside from his books, his only other personal item is a finely crafted nickel-plated Kimber M1911-A1 handgun.

Yeah, I know, kinda lengthy, but I'm a writer. I have a tendancy to write long stuff. I already trimmed it down to this.

As for SG-5's 'job', so to speak...I know that in the early seasons of "Stargate SG-1", they were a military team, and then later on they became a medical team, and in Season 9 they were a scientific team. Now, they could probably be whatever you liked (I vote military!).

BigGator5

Umm, so White Knight your character is already on Alpha Base and a Marine?

:S

You know, I would love you on my team, but would you not be happy on the Marine team already roll-playing? I was hoping that most of my team would be mostly USAF (Mckay would be Canadian Forces Air Command officer though...).

Also, DID NO ONE read my "How to Roll-Play 101" post?

No, no, it's ok dude, really.

[please read this carefully]
The idea is that Col. Sharp said that SG-5 could have been on a off-world mission when Earth was destoryed. Even though SG-5 on the show is believed to be a Marine team, I would like this one to be a mainly USAF team since there is already a Marine Team here.[please read this carefully]

I would love to have you on my team. However, you should see if you can be on the current or a brand new (seeing as SG-6 has completely open up) Marine SG Team.

Look, I was hoping SG-5 would be an Exploration/Diplomatic Air Force Team. Proxy is no longer part of Stargate Roll-Play, so let's throw away his list.

No body wanted to be on SG-5 nor cared about it until I came along. I should get at least some impute on how the team is put together and it's mission. If not, tell me now and I will resign from roll-play.

I got your PM, BigGator5. I agree with the Exploration/Diplomatic team story. Here's my bio:

Name: Jen Stevens
Age: 30?
Rank: Captain?
Position: SG5
Appearance: 5'4", green eyes, short red hair
Personality: Something of a loner but sticks with close friends
History: Standard high school education, went through ROTC in college and has a master's in biology. USAF fighter pilot but was shot down in late 2002. Joined the SGC in early 2003 as a field biologist on SG5. Taken as host after a mission went badly. Was recovered by team and symbiote removed by the Tok'ra. Team was off-world for negotiations when Earth was destroyed. After the mission was completed, team attempted to dial Earth several times, but got no answer. Went to the Alpha site and learned about Earth's destruction. Does not have ATA gene.
Other facts: was taken as a Goa'uld host after a mission went bad. has naquadah in blood and entry scar on back of neck. Proficient with hand device and healing device. (your choice whether or not she has them with her during the mission SG5 comes back from to the Alpha site).

Yay! Welcome DragonGate (I have a thing for reptiles ;) )! Here, place this in your signature: SG-5 Patch. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v669/shelbel2/patcheSG5.gif)

White Knight, if you cannot find a spot on another team, I will be more than happy to welcome you on the team. Right now, we can start playing with the current team and get set-up. We can bring you in when we get to the Alpha Site.

Now, any specific ideas to what mission we were on? I was thinking about a standard trade agreement for more Naquadria from Langara?

DragonGate
November 16th, 2005, 05:29 PM
Dealing with the Langarans? Sounds good. And Alpha Site could likely use the naquadria, if we bring any back. When we arrive, are we just going to gate in or does the Alpha Site have an iris?

I got an idea about how we first try to call Earth. When the negotiations are completed, we attempt to dial home to report on what we get and what we're offering. When the gate won't connect, we try again. On the third attempt at dialing, we dial the Alpha Site and basically what the heck is going on? After we're told, we return to Alpha Site nearly immediately.

Yeah, but for three weeks? Give me another reason why you don't think Langara is a bad idea. Better be much better than, "I don't like them." You have to work everyday with people you don't like.

Besides, getting much need naquadria is very excuse why we were gone so long.

DragonGate

I'm guessing you have to make arrangements with Colonel Sharp and General Blue about our arrival? Let me know by PM or Talk Thread when we arrive at the Alpha Site. I'll probably be on GW pretty often today.

When everybody comes to the control room thread, I'd suggest having your characters give up their weapons. We don't want shot on our first day here! Things are getting good. Right now, Gen. Blue and gate guards are in a standoff with us, but Stevens has given up her Beretta and her hand device. She also ordered Mckay and MacDoreign to give up their weapons and made a suggestion to Colonel Richardson.

RockinHobbit, when you come online, we are currently in the Briefing room. Read through the last two pages or so to get caught up about what has happened.

ADDED: 7:46 AM GateWorld time. Since our team's on Alpha Site and settling in, I think we need to decide the exact amount of Naquadria we brought back from Langara. Setting an exact amount might be useful later on if anybody uses it for something.

BigGator5
November 20th, 2005, 02:42 PM
I was thinking of leaving that up to our Dungeon Master, Col Sharp.

Right now, I am not feeling well (I guess I drank too much after the Bucc's win). So PM me if you need anything and I will get back to you, asap.

Just an FYI, folks. Italics are usually used for thoughts. Actions can be written as regular sentences or *types the rest of the message* in asterisks. That's pretty much SOP for RPG"s and fic writers. Which we are.

Just trying to make life easier to read and follow. Thanks.

Hey guys. After Stevens gets done healing people, our team doesn't have much to do. I was wondering if you'd be interested in going offworld.

I figure we could meet an old contact, like a relocated civilization. We could get some much-needed supplies. Also, most artifacts would have been stored on Earth. Maybe we could pick up some samples of Ancient or Goa'uld artifacts to start an Alpha Site collection.

It would be really cool if we could get a few of some sort of animal to start breeding near the base, for food or wool. Also you can make Jello from animal skin (just a thought:S )

Let me know what you think.

I agree. How about the civilization be really alien aliens instead of the typical humans? And their attitude has done a 180 since the last time a team was there. Like they went from "friendly and open" to "wary and suspicious"?

RockinHobbit
December 5th, 2005, 08:02 AM
Hmmm... a little like the Unas. Good idea. It could get interesting. ;)

DragonGate
December 5th, 2005, 09:02 AM
I'd forgotten about the Unas.:o Yeah, we could go check up on them. Which set should we go to? The ones from "Enemy Mine" or "The First Ones"? If we go back to "Enemy Mine," we could also get naquadah as well as food.

BigGator5
December 5th, 2005, 09:23 AM
How about an all new world with Unas? We just back with a naquadah shipment.

DragonGate
December 5th, 2005, 09:43 AM
A new world? That would let us start fresh with a completely new tribe of them. Maybe we go to the planet not knowing the Unas are there. And when we meet them, they aren't acting like any Unas previously encountered.

DragonGate
December 7th, 2005, 02:47 PM
I had an idea during History class. All the Unas tribes have been fairly primitive. How about we find a Unas society that is technologically advanced? Earth-level or a little above, I'd suggest. And they're extremely suspicious of us because the only humans they've ever met were Goa'uld hosts.

RockinHobbit
December 7th, 2005, 02:51 PM
That could also mean that their language and customs have advanced, so we have trouble communitcating with them. I'll remember to bring plenty of Powerbars and lighters!

DragonGate
December 7th, 2005, 03:01 PM
LOL! So, what does the other half of the team think? Advanced Unas civilization?

EDIT: RodneyMckay sent a PM and agreed with the plotline. Now, if our Fearless Leader:p makes it 4/4, we could take this to Gen Blue.

Sorry to post on top of myself, but,

CKO (Tok'ra Mia Jones/Mika) is looking for a way back into the RP. I had a thought that maybe while visiting the advanced Unas, we encounter her, possibly captive, because if they're suspicious of humans, they've got to be downright paranoid about an actual host. It's just a thought, add your opinions.

RockinHobbit
December 8th, 2005, 06:30 AM
We could intend for it to be a rescue mission (seeing as SG's 1, 3, and 6 have their hands full right now). Average Unas would probably have killed Mia considering she is a host, but since they're 'advanced,' they hold her captive instead. I assume if they'd be willing to deal with us on freeing her, they'd be open to trading for goods as well.

Let's run with this... if we can coax our 2nd Lt. out of whatever rock he's hiding under.

DragonGate
December 8th, 2005, 06:37 AM
I'll send CKO a PM to let her know I have an "aye" from you, RockinHobbit. And I'll give RodneyMckay a nudge.

Both her parents were NYPD officers so she decided to follow in their footsteps and went to United States Air Force Academy after graduating and was accepted in. An able fighter no matter in the air or on the ground, she was transferred to SG-5 just 6 months before the bomb blew up Earth. Kari had been out on a mission with SG-5 when Earth was destroyed. Lost everything and everyone she ever loved, so now her team became her only family. Always wears a half broken off Sapphire necklace, given to her by her biological mother, her younger brother Davy has the other half.

Sounds cool. Maybe in the mess hall after I finish dealing with our Free Jaffa/Roman friends with Stevens. (But it would only be confusing if MacDoreign's name was written down... she pronounces it 'Kah-Tey')

PM me if you have suggestions or something.
I realised that it's said kah-tey, it's evident from the spelling. I also assume the apostrophe is the same as in phonetic transcription, indicating that the stress is on the second syllable?

I meant confusing for the readers, rather than for the characters. I'm sure at some point, yes. There's loads going on at the mo though.

RockinHobbit
February 11th, 2006, 12:46 PM
Yeah, that makes sense. And even though I'm in Linguistics so I know it's wrong, I put the stress on the first syllable. The apostrophe is just to let people know it's not 'Kate'

So anyhow... eventually our characters will have a chat, then.

Welcome to the team, Shadow, since so far Gator and McKay have just given you flak. ;) Nice to have another team member who's into alternative weaponry, languages, and history. My character is the resident linguist/historian/anthropologist and carries a sword.

If you've been paying attention to SG-5's actions since we started... or read my bio... yeah, a sword. A katana, actually, it's a Japanese single-edged sword. It's very handy because you never run out of ammo and it can penetrate armor designed for high-speed projectiles and energy weapons. I do also use a P-90 for ranged attacks, though.

Yo guys!!!!!:cameron:

Still trying to fix the whole Bio deal of how I ended up with you guys, still waiting for a response from Gator (Check out the Outdoors thread to see how I got here)

In real life, I am a hard-core high school debater!!!! (Just finished a varsity debate tournament at Duncanville)

(I'm really 14 years old, and I tend to get really busy as a Freshmen in highschool so if I disappear for a while, don't sweat it.)

Oh yeah, still trying to figure out how to get my SG-5 sig up, you know with pictures and stuff.....never was any good with computers......I'm actually a history geek......don't get me talking about the Alamo or I'm gonna be speaking a mile a minute.....I love military strategies too, got a few friends who are Navy pilots.....you know what they talk about at lunch? People getting shreaded to pieces by the helicopter tail rotor thingy....not helpful at lunchtime...

Well, a katana is more curved, but you get the general idea. I really don't know why that idea seems so odd to you... Teal'c basically goes around with a stick that shoots fiery laser blasts.

Nice drawing, though... lmao!

And DragonGate... heck yes, let's go on a MISSION!!!!!

And TheShadow... For right now, you can save this patch...http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d61/RockinHobbit/patcheSG5.gif in your sig with your character's name. If you want, I can make you a banner like mine that you can link to your bio. Just tell me what you want it to say, and if you have an actor in mind to represent your character with. And don't worry about being busy from time to time; I'm a freshman in college and it happens to me all the time.

Okay, to link: In your signature, use the URL code FIRST. Like this(but replace the colons( : ) with brackets([) and (]) Note: that address links to your bio, don't change it-->

:url="http://forum.gateworld.net/showpost.php?p=4868085&postcount=66":

Then, add the image link. To do this, first save the image to your computer. Then, click the photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com) link. You can sign up for a free account. Once you do, there will be a box that you can click to find the image on your own computer and put it on the Photobucket site. Photobucket will automatically make you an image link.

Just copy and paste the IMG code (it will have the square brackets just like the URL link) IN BETWEEN the Opening tag of the url link and the closing tag.

The opening tag will be the first set of url code in brackets, with the address. The closing tag will just look like this: /url (but in square brackets.)

So your image tag goes here: :url="address": IMG TAG! :/url:

Hi guys, I'm at school right now and managed to make up an excuse to go to the library to see that I'm not lagging behind on any of the news, and I should be back on again at about 2:00 this afternoon and then later after school since I am going to a friend's house and my parents won't be all screaming at me to do homework.

Like I've said before, I'm all for a mission with SG-7. It should be interesting as all heck, considering what they've been up to lately 0_o

Also, if Gator's out of comission, I think you should be in charge because it's only temporary, so they wouldn't assign us a new CO anyway. But SG-5 already knows you. If you wanted to try some character development though, we could have a problem with trusting you to lead after Nemesis and that nonsense.

Whatever, I'm rambling. TTFN.

Actually, Jason and Jen sort of accidentally started the on-base PDA thing, but Blue never caught wise. Gator mentioned being attracted to Jen in one of his early posts, and then they fell asleep against each other in the lounge, and it was awkward, and Jen posted about worrying about what her husband would have thought.

It was all rather dramatic... but at Stargate, I guess we never do anything half-baked.

AT2 has had to take a leave of absence, so I'd suggest we alter our game plan.

We've got the Advanced Unas mission we planned ages ago, or there's an idea I'd been rolling around for a while. I mentioned it while chatting via IM to Tracy Jane and she really liked it. We find a device off-world that when triggered turns some members of the team into small children. I'm thinking around five, old enough to communicate, but young enough to be handfuls. At least one person will have to be an adult to bring the kids back to Alpha site, but that could be any of us, or the members of SG-7 that TJ asked if we could take into the field.

Post your opinions.

Tracy Jane
February 23rd, 2006, 05:54 AM
Yupp. I've just said this in a PM to your new Major (wooohooooo!!!) and I really don't think it's fair to push back the mission and leave you guys stranded. I really like base life, so I'm happy posting around here, plus Kate and Jim are technically grounded.

However, I'd really, really like it if the rest of SG7 (as in Rich and Joe) could go on the mission, cos they haven't done anything to deserve being stranded.

We can always do the big joint mission at a later date.

RockinHobbit

Sure, TJ and I were discussing that the hair colors of the SG-5 ladies match up with the little girls Kate used to have. Red, brown, and blonde. Picture the mental image of the poor guys hauling three little girls back to the stargate. That is if Ka'te wants to be a kid, too.

AcidSquid

DragonGate
February 23rd, 2006, 11:43 AM
You could be the only adult left, Mckay, or an older kid.

Oh, three little girls could get into so much trouble . . .:D :p

So, here's a possible set-up. A archaeological site has been discovered by the folks at Beta. There's also advanced technologies at the site. But they don't have the experts on hand to properly go over it. SG-5 goes to examine and study the site, and while studying a lab, someone triggers a device and it leaves a bunch of munchkins running around.

The preliminary report can also include a geological oddity to include Chesleyfam, and Gatelover can go along to protect his civilian teammate off-world.

gatelover12
February 23rd, 2006, 11:51 AM
Hmm, would Rich be a kid, or a very frustrated sitter? (I'm fine with both)

DragonGate
February 23rd, 2006, 11:58 AM
Up to you, GL. We need at least one or two of the total group as adults to bring the kids back to alpha site, but if you want to join the munchkin patrol, the kids can cause that much more trouble. Or poor Rich can be herding a bunch of squealing preschoolers.

I'd say we study the area for a few RL days before the accident actually happens.

gatelover12
February 23rd, 2006, 11:59 AM

DragonGate

I think Kate is gonna be head babysitter, because she had three little kids herself. I also really like the idea of McKay or Dobson getting kiddified too (I have a brilliant line to use with the General).

GL, Kate is still officially grounded at the moment, not allowed to go Offworld, so I reckon she'd be ready and waiting at this end to have the girlies dumped on her.

It would be much more fun if the girls are mentally five. They wouldn't get in kiddie trouble if they have their adult minds.

It won't be just Mckay dealing with the girls. TJ asked if we could also take Chesleyfam and Gatelover with us, instead of having them grounded on base. Between two lieutenants and one civilian geologist, they might be able to herd three five-year-olds back to the gate. :p
