This is one of my favourites of Season 5. It introduced my all-time favourite villain.....Anubis! He is so cool.
It was also interesting to see what the Asgard were like before all their cloning techniques. I never saw it coming that they were kinda like us.

Ah, good ep.
Nice work on Heimdall. It was nice to see a fully mobile Asgard. It must have been fun for Teryl Rothery! The mind probe looked a little painful. And a nice touch with the Holo-Sam, I thought that was the funniest bit.

Yes, i loved Heimdall, very cool, it's too bad it's such an expensive proccess. :S
It was really great to see real actors, robot actors, and CG actors all working together and if you're not looking for it you don't really see it, that's a big deal for a TV show. ;)
It was also really good to see Osiris again. :)

June 19th, 2004, 12:24 AM
Yah, when Sam told Osiris Daniel was dead, did we see a little 'pain' from Sarah?
Anubis
June 19th, 2004, 12:26 AM
Quite right. I think the host still has the emotions control over the symbiote. Poor Sarah and for Sam to say he died the day before! *Weeps*

June 19th, 2004, 12:27 AM
Also, isn't this the episode where the Asgard got the chance to destory Anubis's ship (w/ Anubis inside)!?! But no... they let the ship go :(
Anubis
June 19th, 2004, 12:33 AM
Yes it was. They warned Anubis, and they flied away and killed more people than any other. Silly asgard
Elwe Singollo
June 19th, 2004, 12:36 AM
But that wouldn't be fun if Anubis died in the first episode we see him (i think this is the first episode hes in).
Anubis
June 19th, 2004, 12:37 AM
True, but it would have made some difference. The question would be did his form survive the attack?
Elwe Singollo
June 19th, 2004, 12:41 AM
Even if he did, he would be floating in his little cloak, or maybe w/o his cloak and floating around in space. But w/o his cloak, he wouldn't have form, so i guess he would be like, 'part of the wind', metorphorically saying ;)
Anubis
June 19th, 2004, 12:43 AM
Well, we've seen that Anubis possible escaped in season eight but that's about all
But the fact is, Anubis got away
Elwe Singollo
June 19th, 2004, 12:55 AM
W/O reading spoilers :) All we saw when Anubis's fleet was being decimated, we saw Anubis screaming, with the Ancient's weapon getting nearer to him. So right then, we dont' know if he died or didnt' die, but still got hit by the weapon, and is now floating around in the Ether. But thats all speculation.
Anubis
June 19th, 2004, 12:57 AM
Right, but I'm certain Anubis survived in some way
Anyway, enough of Lost City, more on Revelations

I like how the asgard walk.

I was blown away when I first learned who voiced Heindall. But, once I
did learn, and paid closer attention, there are certain inflections that are very Frasier like in Heindall's voice.
I wished that we would see this Asgard scientist again because I really enjoyed the character. But given the expense, I'm not
expecting anything.

fraiser, aka teryl, not only did the vioce of heimy, she did teh motion capture for him too
she was taping this during gatecon 2002 i think. she wore a black body suit with little reflective thingies on it. they'd tape her doing the actions, then, through the magic of CGI, take her out, match her movements to the computer animated heimdall, and replace one with the other
she told a humorous story about heimy's 'eyes'
since asgard are so short, they put a picture of his face on her chest, to encourage her co-workers to look down....and his eyes were right about cleavage level....so they spent all week looking at her chest

LOL! Oh, that's just hilarious!
A lot more work went in to creating Heindall then I had ever thought. I'd love to see some outtakes and/or blooppers from Revelations.

"Revelations" was a decent episode, but it seems like an odd choice to end the season...especially if they thought it might be the last episode ever. I wonder why...

Maybe their ships did not have superior weapons and shields and they were just bluffing, so if they did attack Anubis, they'd get creamed.

I liked this episode a lot. Still very fresh on losing Daniel. I like how Jack "knows" Daniel is still around. I think Jack keeps wanting to work so he doesn't think too much about Jack being gone.
I was waiting for Sam or Jack to say something to Heimdall about them getting shorter over the centuries.

Just watched this episode. Nice to see the introduction of never before seen technology and a new enemy. It's nice the way the story arc has been building up to this.
Also some interesting things about the Asgard learnt, which is a nice touch. I especially like the little shimmer at the end :)

Great Episode although i dont think anyone saw this comeing
Pic Removed PM me if you want to see it...
Now look at the pic below, we can see Sam squatting at a corner while J and T are passing along without paying attention to her. The very next scene shows Sam appearing with the holographic communication device.
So, obviously, on the pic, Amanda Tapping was prepping for her next scene but she appeared in the frame : big shooting error here.

Ah, why'd you show me that, I like a bit of mystery. I thought this episode was great, and I didn't see it coming!
Heimdall has potential, he seemed like he could be as cool as Thor, and that's always a great thing.
That Asgard ship was an outdated model, like the one Thor had in "Small Victories," you could tell that the three that Freyr was commanding meant business, they were bigger, and they looked newer, than the one that Thor was commanding.
Teal'c and Sam thought that there was a malfunction in the air flow system, but Jack knew that Daniel was still around. One of the best things about the episode, other than Thor, Heimdall, and the ancient Asgard, was Anubis revealing that mind probing device, even Thor was like woah, didn't see that one coming!  :D

Nice to see more of the asgard as thor is usually the only reference to what they are like!
I think it was well written for the three remaining SG1 members, good enough that I didn't miss daniels presence too much.
I wonder if anyones counted how many times a member of SG1 has been captured as thinking back I can't remember many where they weren't. :)

Excellent episode. Set up season 6 nicely while still letting Michael Shanks in on the last episode without actually letting his face on-screen. This was also the only other time my sister had seen Thor besides Nemesis, so we always like to make the joke "There's good ol' Thor, always lying down on the job."
Liked the way the introduced Anubis. The *ahem* revelation that the Asgard are all clones was also kinda surprising tho not entirely unexpected. Like Jack said, "explains a few things". Loved the last scene, too. Cannot get away from that music either.

I think there is something illogical here:
Thor appears to be the Surpreme Commander of the Asgard fleet, but they sent him with a crappy old ship to defend an important planet.
Of course they thought they could handle the Goa'ld 2 hands tied back, but why is the Asgard flagship an old one? (assuming that Thor commands their flagship since he is their surpreme commander)

Not to mention the fact that most of their fleet was probably taken out or damaged in recent Replicator battles. Thor might've had to settle.
Metarock Sam
September 24th, 2005, 01:58 PM
Either that or since they underestimate the Goa'uld they thought to only send this weak ship as it was strong enough to destroy normal Hatak vessels not ones with Anubis's new Sheild Tecnology.

Loved Teryl as Heimdall and she also did the voice for Freyr in this ep, that's how Martin Wood roped her into doing Heimy.
Also got love the scene when Jack walks through Holo-Carter then waves his hand back and forth through her backside.;) One way to cop a feel, pity nothing was there.:p

The host does survive. A strong host may have a bit of influence over the symbiote. The Tok'ra have shown that when either the host or the symbiote feels love or even just attraction for someone, the other will also feel this emotion. While the shared emotions are probably not as strong with the Goa'uld, the effect probably exists to some degree.

Yes but osiris is a very "powerful" Goa'uld" I am amazed that she could be influenced. But I suppose anything is possible.

I like the way Anubis introduced. A black hooded evil figure , like Emperor Palpatine. I heard that David Palfy was voicing him. Isn't he the same actor who played Sokar ? The voice acting of Teryl Rothery as Heimdall was also great.
I also noticed reaction of Osiris when Sam said that Daniel was dead. His host Sarah certainly has feelings for him.

Really liked this episode. Teryl Rothery was great as Heimdall, but I felt so sorry for Thor. I love that little guy :D Anubis is one of the coolest looking bad guys Stargate has had, I think. Oh, and I loved O'Neill's, "I can't believe they took my watch."
I also liked the way the episode dealt with the effect Daniel's "death" has had on the team and the different ways they have been trying to deal with it. It was a really nice touch with the wind at the end and then Jack's half-smile, knowing that Daniel is doing alright. :jack:

It was hard to see the team go on an important mission without Daniel, but they needed to establish the fact that he was gone before they went onto the next season. The bond between Jack and Thor is really special, It's good to know that we have a legitimate friend within the Asgard. Most of our off world allies have alternate motives in mind when helping us out. However, I truly believe that the Asgard have our best interest in mind and would do anything in their power to help us.

yup friends o these nice, powerful folks are quite well-protected; very few villains have the might to go against these little grey guys
the Asgard do get some help from us, but it is an equal partnership, where we consider each other true friends n put ourselves in harm's way to save each other; very unlike the Earthan- Tok'ra relationship

I have to say that my favorite part of this episode was the very end when they're going out for food, and that wind goes through the corridor. It's never, ever, everrr confirmed in-story, but I'm 99.999...% certain that was meant to be Daniel. Malfunction in the ventilation system my ass.

Flipping hell - I'm the first Rewatcher to have completed S5...
Can't remember where I first watched this ep...
1. The speculation on this was interesting, particularly as we now had a good idea what Anubis would look like - something we've never seen before or since!
2. There wasn't a Daniel-sized hole in this ep so much as 'a' hole. But it was there.
3. Anubis clearly has a lot of tricks.
4. You have to get up early to outsmart even a three man SG1 though, they needed Thor's help however!
5. Nice touch right at the end.
Solid way to end the season.

Pretty good finale, it's near the bottom for finales (there's a big gap between the next one down), but still good.
I noticed that this episode (I think) introduced a new HyperSpace window effect.
We finally met Anubis for the first time, man is he going to be a pain in the years to come.
This is the final episode of SG-1 to air on Showtime, and the first of 5 planned series finales (Seasons 5, 6, 7(?), 8, & 10).
Monday, the first episode of the new year, the beginning of the next leg of our journey through SG-1, Season 6. Which I noticed, Monday's aired on Syfy Sci-Fi 2-3 weeks after this episode aired on Showtime.

Pretty good season ender with the appearance of the new big bad Goa'uld who shows the Asgard who the new boss of the galaxy is with his more advanced technology.
The void left by Daniel's death is touched on nicely as we see everyone mourning his loss in their different ways. The reminder that he isn't gone in the conventional sense of death is another interesting touch at the end of the episode with the 'malfunctioning ventilation system'.
This episode sets up the season six opener nicely as we go into my second favourite season after season four. :)

Who doesn't love a good Asgard episode?
The episode is like a big payoff. We get to see so many interesting things like finally seeing Anubis's true form. I thought it was weird the first time to see him covered in a black coat. It just brings him the most cliched of Goa'uld. And all the Goa'uld are quite cliched. Then their is Thor. It was interesting to see him in trouble instead of his comfy chair for a change. Its not surprising to see Jack and Teal'c run onboard a Hatak to save him but it seemed a little different this time. It seemed like it was harder to sneak aboard the ship then last time. Maybe that is because Anubis was so much more powerful then the other System Lords. Is it just me or did Osris seem sad that Daniel was dead. That lead me to the one negative of this show. Carter's grieving got a little over the top for me? A little at first wasn't bad but being a trained officer she should have been more able to control her grief in her job.

Just watched the episode again, especially like Osiris talking about Yu. 'That stubborn old man simply refuses to die'.
And the end of the Asgard threat, '...challenge us at your own peril!!' Just shows that mean business when they want.
Thor had an old ship at the start because a - it was the only ship available, and b - they didn't expect the Goa'uld to actually fight back just leave when they turned up as they usually do. The advances in the mothership's shields and weapons were unknown to the Asgard.

When Freyr announced that Thor was dead I think it might've upset me more than Daniel's death. I was relieved when that turned out not to be the case. Poor Thor first he's trapped on a ship infested with replicators and now this.
I like the way Anubis introduced. A black hooded evil figure , like Emperor Palpatine.
I liked his entrance as well, he definitely had Darth Sidious vibes. Also when he took out his mind probe to use on Thor it reminded me of when Vader used one on Leia in A New Hope.
