Who wants to see SG1 visit the new Asgard homeworld, walking around, being taller than almost everything :D And oh yes, anyone know how to spell their new homework?

Ever wondered why the ceilings in Asgard buildings/ships were so tall?

I guess their architecture accounts for potential contact with taller races....?

I was thinking the samething. It seemed their original form was really similar to ours, but looked taller, but thats just my eyes ;)

What? The Asgard are taking spelling lessons? :D

I have no idea how it's spelled. Orilla? Aurilla? Aurella? I wonder if the Closed Captioning got it right? Gee, might have to watch it again. :p

The spelling is very interessting because I was not able to find any connection to real world mythology for Panagal/Penagal of the Asgard High Council and for Aurilla/Orilla.

Normally all Asgard characters have one (like Thor, Freyr, Heimdall etc.) Now Commander Aegir of the Valhalla is added with "Aegir" and "Valhalla" based on real world mythology.

If anybody finds the real character, please tell me...

Since the furling skeletons looked pretty tall, the Nox are human sized, and Ancients are human sized, and that makes up their wonderful alliance, they probably got in the habit of building things like that.

Or they just like having their space  But yah, since i guess the alliance of 4, it would make sense.

That's how it's spelled at SciFi's episode guide, so that looks good! :)

The whole spelling thing is all weird, for instance, some places, they spell Asgard Asgaurd, and vice versa, so yah, :S

I always go with the simplest form... Orilla and Asgard. Those are not just the simplest form, they are the only correct form, making them simultaneously the simplest and most complex form. :)

Yeah, Orilla is what came to my mind linguistically first and foremost although it does appear to be more South American than Norse, but I also like:

Auryla

Makes a good girls name, don't you think? Or at least a sci-fi world ;)

Sorry to be totally out of line in this thread, but I wondered, when have we seen a furling skeleton ??

Must see that episode :)

Thanx in advance

I think he maybe referring to Season 6 episode "Paradise Lost", where Harry and Jack are stuck on the moon, but they don't know that yet. And the planet + moon was Furling owned, or used to be. So i guess Mio was referring to the skeletons on the mood as Furlings???

I believe the skeletons in Paradise Lost were originally intended to be furlings, but TPTB changed it to humans before shooting.

The tall space that you are inquiring about? Sence the Asgard have been coming to earth for a very long time, I would thing that the Asgard put in acount in hights in humans. In my opinion like Loki did with O'Niell in Fragile Balance He just took him. If you where a race that did that kind of stuff, wouldn't you take, in consitertion on, how tall you needed to make your cilines? We do have big animals too, I'm sure they took a few of those too. Just giving my 2 cents.

I kind of like how the Asgard trust SG1 on the whereabouts of their new home, although im not sure if they remember where it is, haha...

I think the celings are high because the Asgard know how to live in comfort and elegance.

yeha what can u say about the furlings ?

... for the name I've possibly found something :
[FRENCH DICTIONNARY]
- orilla
sustantivo femenino
1. [gen] bord m
a orillas de [el mar etc] au bord de
2. [de campo, bosque] lisière f

(c) Larousse.

and
-Aurelia (via) ou voie Aurélienne, voie romaine qui reliait Rome à Arles, en longeant les rives de la Méditerranée.

(c) Larousse.

that's the only thing I've founded ... but It is probably an entire new name, possibly a name that the asgards used in their past ... one of their past leader ....

Not that we posess the ability to get there in under 100 years since a black hole sucked up our Ancient-Enhanced cargo ship.

Among other things, Orilla is a city in Ontario (http://www.city.orillia.on.ca/). ;) (actually, the city is Orillia...but it's close)
