Anyone notice how O'neal after his memory wipe, knew how to use that cool blast replicator destroyer thingy?
Wonder if he regains ancient knowledge slowly? :)

I don't think he actually knew how to use the Ancient weapon. But rather "had to do something", as he put it. He had to try something :)
He knew the shotgun and P90's weren't going to work, and he also knew that whatever the device was it was suppose to help the Asgard in their fight with the replicators.
He basically got lucky...

Spoilers:
But, how did he know where the switch was to turn it on? And, was it possible that he could without a switch because he has the Ancient gene key? There was no obvious activation point other than he stuck his whole arm/hand in it.

Perhaps sticking a whole hand in WAS the activation point?

Maybe he realized this when he was designing it and made it along the lines of a really simple point and click type thing.

If you knowdise with the Atlantis Chair you have to have a gene that will start it up. Jack has the gene. For that matter it was not Thor that brought up the new weapon on the petistal, it was Jack that thought of it and the weapon appeared. Thor would never finish his sentents before Jack would appear or bring something in view. Same with the new weapon you can not fire it unless you have the gene. If Daniel can fire it in another episode then I guess I'm wrong.

The gene acts as a 'key' to make sure that NonAncients can't use Ancient technology. There would be absolutely no point in jack implimenting this into the weapon.

Well thor already replicated and integrated one into the DJ, so its just a click of the button now.
EDIT: lick-->click

I thought that Jack's saying "Had to do something" meant IT had to do something, the weapon, since up until it shot and killed the replecator they had no idea what it was even for. I think it was probably some residual memory/instict that he had that allowed him to, in the heat of the moment, desperately grab it and fire it. Whether or not he still has any residual Ancient knowledge or not remains to be seen, but I'm betting on not, as his concious memory returns, his Ancient knowledge receeds. But we'll see!

Thor wiped it all. It's gone.
O'neill was just grasping for straws when he picked it up and fired it.
...if he didn't try something, they would have all been dead...but at least we would have gotten to see what color the asgard are on the inside <g>

It's a gun. You don't need an instinct to shoot a gun. Jack probably built it as a gun because he knew it was the most logical UI for a device that "shot" a wave that destroyed replicators. He picked it up, knowing it was supposed to help stop replicators, saw a trigger, the rest was obvious.
As for the Asgard, they should have tongues. Tongues are very important for speech and eating when one has the standard humanoid hinged-lower-jaw mouth.

Actually, it was my poor, misguided attempt to rip off O'Neill's "They had asses?" line from Small Victories and pass it as humor. I should have known someone would have taken that seriously. :D

I believe he retained Ancient's Gut-Instincts (i could not think of anything else to call it)he just somehow knew what it's function was.(It was only minutes after being revived..some lingering knowledge perhaps)

Actually, it's never been dtermined whether or not Daniel has the gene, in fact, it's very possible he does have the gene. I believe it's Sam and Teal'c who don't have the gene.

I would think it's more possible for Sam and/or Teal'c to have the gene. Daniel was at the Ancient outpost research station for a while, and with the way McKay was getting people to try the chair, he probably made Daniel sit down at least once and try. Since no mention was made of Jackson having the gene in "Rising" it's very likely he doesn't have the gene. Sam and Teal'c, however, haven't had a chance to see if they have it at all.
