Other than a childrens show, what would put this show in, i guess Fantasy, but yah, just wondering if people even still watch this show even if they're too old for it

I do consider Power Rangers a fantasy and I have watched them every so often, have you?

Everyone has a little kid in them. :D If we didn't, the theme parks would be out of business. And I for one like them (the parks).

Yeah, there are futuristic elements to it so sci-fi, lighthearted maybe but it does touch on themes of technology (and chop socky-ing that technology to bits and pieces) in its own fun way. Is this show still going in some spinoff capacity? I haven't seen it in ages, but it had some catchy character names. Rita Repulsa is one of the better names for a villain I've ever heard, bar some of James Bond's foes!

I thought the original power rangers were best :) Haha... Me, being still young, likes anything, haha... I did like the name "Rita Repulsa", thats catchy  The 'megazords' are in a way scifi-ish ,haha...

Is that show still on the air? How many incarnations does it have now?
I used to watch it before school like 9 years ago, back then they were still the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Elwe Singollo
July 12th, 2004, 09:56 AM
Yes, the original was the best :) The show is still going on, it has more spawns than Star Trek has have, haha... Its like Power Rangers' 9th incarnation? I don't know, but more than 6, thats all i know.

I believe I stopped when they introduced the white ranger. I know it was pretty popular in its 'heyday' what with the live shows and everything. Aren't they in space now? or back in time?

Elwe Singollo

I think the current show is on Earth, with 3 in a half rangers, the half ranger being Tommy (Former White/Green/Red ranger), cuz hes there for one episode, then gone the other, so yah...

They should have just ended that franchise along time ago.
Re: Classification
It does have a little bit of Science Fiction, with the presence of Alpha545?555? I dunno that robot.

Ya a while ago on lunch break me and a few friends hijacked the multimedia room for some entertainment. The movie of choice : "Power Rangers, the Movie". A little while later, some girls joined us, and had absoloutley no idea what was so facinating about the technicolour monstrosities.

After the babe turns into an owl, one of us, quite calmly and seemingly sanely said, "Man thats one foxey owl!"

Most of the girls left at that point.

After 9 shows armed only with martial arts that took my 6 year old brother to master and costumes borrowed from the circus, they are still GODS.

I really dislike how they messed up the colors of the rangers, a guy was a yellow ranger, there're used to be two similar blue rangers (ones lighter than the other), it was all jacked up. I stopped watching after Lost in Space, then everything got... 'weird', because there was no more Zordan :( Haha...

As soon as Lord Zed left the series was dead to me :)

I actually did go to see the first movie though, and that was crap! I was dragged by friends...I swear!

WOW... as much as some people laugh at the Power Rangers, it has proven itself to be a durable marketing marathon and a real success at that. While other stuff like Pokemon has faded by the wayside, look what we've got here!

Another phenom I see rising is this thing called Neopets, virtual pets. I remember they started with a crap-bang really shoddy website, but they persisted and endured... and now they have their own glossy magazine, their own plush REAL versions of the pets (as real as they won't move I guess :P), and so much more. It's been a merchandising rise taking place over, like, 5 years or so. Wowza.

The power rangers switched actors more times than Law and Order, but that's to be expected - it's hard finding people that stay 17 forever.

The series that changed dramatically, getting a whole new set of power rangers cast, but still the same power rangers, was like Turbo i think, there was like 3 blue rangers, a teen from the original PR, a kid that was introduced in the movie, and i think Carlos was a blue ranger as well, until the series turned into 'Lost in Space' where he turned into the black ranger, gosh, very complicated stuff!

I believe the technical term for a show with Power Rangerish aspects is "Sentai."

I could care less though, its so cheesy, but I love it. I am glad they brought Tommy back, it gives me a good excuse to watch the newest one :D

I know what you mean by 'cheezy' especially the line that Tommy uses, a little bit too much, well, actually i forgot the exact line, but he says something about the power within you, i forgot! but i know he says it alot, acting likes hes Zordon, pss... Haha...

I'll try to remeber all the incarnations of power rangers that I know of.

1. Mighty morphing Power Rangers (original) ,2. Power Rangers Zero, 3.Power Rangers Turbo,4. Power Rangers in space,5. Power Rangers Lost galaxy,6. Power Rangers Lightspeed rescue,7. Power Rangers Time Force,8. Power Rangers Wild Force, 9. Power Rangers Ninja Force , 10. Power Rangers Dino Thunder. I might be missing one,Then you add the two motion pictures. They make a new power ranger series every year now unlike when it first aired when the original had 3 seasons and then Turbo had 2 seasons they all exist for one season and then change to a new cast and incarnation now.

I stoped watching after Time Force, I barely even watch that show to be honnest, Its embarrasing since I was in high school when Time Force first aired, But since I was into those wierd japanese pocket and digital monster craze even in grade 7 when Pokemon was at its peek those shows came after Power Rangers so I watched it occasionaly waiting for Digimon. Some Dorks in grade 10 were still trading pokemon cards and playing the gameboy game.

Got to admit kids shows are pretty charming to watch even my sister who is 25 and married still watches Bugs Bunny religously I dont know if it because she babysits kids so much she suddenly had a taste for their shows.

Power Rangers has gone on way to long! I dont know why they dont just show reruns of the original shows? The Kids who started the power ranger generation are all near or Finnished high school and obviously dont watch such a retarded show anymore. They got so many why make new ones when your just gonna copy and paste the same old stories over and over?

Another thing all that hype in the media back in what 1992-1993 about Power Rangers being too violent and turning kids into phycho killing machines is rediculous when you think about it now.Look at how much crap kids watch now compared to what we watched all the way back into the early 90's? Shows are more graphic and sexual now even the kids shows. A bit of Kung FU and Ninja chops is no big deal as the kids grew out of it eventually and especially since just talking about it would make you get laughed at by other kids.

My parents eventually baned me from watching Power Rangers as a kid seeing all those News stories about how kids will have demonic possesion watching it , Didnt stop me from watching it behind their back at freinds houses,But If I was watching it today they probaily would say thats way to kiddy for a guy who is almost 18 and their right , I should have stoped watching it after grade 5 and not by the time I was in High school.

I would clasify Power Rangers as Sci fi /Fantasy hybred.

I second the motion!

The two pieces of Power Rangers tirvia I'm fond of apssing on are: 1) Watch the fight scenes in the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers closely and you may notice that the Yellow Ranger (female in the US version) has a rather - masculine bulge - in the trouser department. This is due to the character being played by a male actor in the original Japanese version.

2) The stunt performer who did the action sequences for the Pink Ranger is also Sarah Michelle Gellar's stunt double.

I guess I'd say they were plain silly, but if I had to classify them, I'd say quasi-sci-fi. Not true sci-fi, but sorta sci-fi. Maybe living anime? heh. I dunno. I used to watch it when I was little, but even back then, I thought it was plain silly. Sorry <blush>. I used to have a power range costume though. Man, I was such a geek.

Wow, this was like... on page million  Never expected this to come back, haha... But newho, i only liked one power ranger, and that was the yellow ranger in the original, but i was so sad, when i read in real life that she died :(

I actually still watch Power Rangers and I' am 22. I do admit that I stopped when Turbo came on and I didnt start watching it again till about 3/4 years ago when I was flipping through channels and watched an episode of Time Force. It was so good, it got me hooked again. I really like the current series, Dino Thunder. Its a nice throwback to the original plus having the greatest ranger ever, Tommy Oliver.

I liked the power rangers really much when I was a kid and I find the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the best (the original show) then I liked also Zeo but after that it went down the hill. I found the Green Ranger the best and Lord Zedd really cool and evil. I sometimes rewatch the old episodes. I have them in German because it was the only channel (RTL) that aired it and that way I learned how to understand and speak German. There are now new seasons (I looked it up) Anubis is even a Power Rangers !!!  but Anubis looks there like a pale Scooby Doo :D

Yea, and it got on my nerve when Jason didn't say anything about it :S But I did write a fic based on this :D :D Red and White (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1872741/1/) and sequel Golden Homecoming (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1910995/1/)

But Giving Tommy the leadership had to with behind the secnes. Thuy, Walter and Austin wanted pay rise, due to - I believe - the populaty of the show. Instead they got kicked out :(

Tommy was first the green ranger. As Green Ranger he never was the leader of the Power Rangers. When Tommy became the White Ranger he became the leader of the Power Rangers but I have to agree with you that Jason was the best leader ! But I liked the Green Ranger above all the other(even white) I liked the Dragonzord very much.I still remember the tune when the Green Ranger played his flute to summon Dragonzord. Witch Zord did you found the coolest. By the way I saw some time ago an Wild Force episode where all red rangers appeared (except Rocky) and I must say it was great seeing Tommy and Jason back but I found it really stupid that the Wild Force Ranger destroyed Serpentera. How laim was that. I had high hopes for it. Showdown with remaining zords like the shogunzord and the red battlezord and others

I soo hated "Forever Red" Epsoide. Cole is PR most lamest Red Ranger. God he's soooo cheesy.

Tommy as green was the best, but he wasn't good in white :p God.....

He was ok in Zeo.

I love the Thunder Zords. My only complain....no cockpit was shown :o
