With all the hype surrounding Peter Jackson’s remake of “King Kong,” now would seem like the perfect time to make another movie of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Lost World.” After all, the classic tale of dinosaurs living in South America must have provided plenty of inspiration for the original “King Kong,” made in 1933.
The creative minds in The Asylum seem to agree; the Hollwood-based production company is putting the finishing touches to “King of the Lost World,” its well-timed take on Conan Doyle’s story. The opportunism of writers David Michael Latt and Carlos Del Los Rios doesn’t end there, though. Promotional materials for the film feature a very large ape. Moreover, its explorers are stranded by a plane crash, just like the characters in “Lost.”
