    Wide-screen

Just have regular Tv for now, but I'll take the letterbox and futureproofing.

      Err.. Widescreen...

I assume by 'fullscreen' you mean viewing it at a 4:3 ratio on a standard TV? Because that would be kinda silly :\

I prefer the original aspect ratio of the film regardless of its dimensions. For older films, this is usually 4:3 (or something close to it). For newer films, which are almost all shot in "widescreen", I prefer anamorphic (16:9) DVD transfers.

It depends how the show was shot for me. As long as the actual picture is 16:9, I'm happy. But my TV stretches all the 4:3 shows to fit my widescreen TV, so everyone looks fat on shows like Star Trek.

How do you prefer Buffy? Most of the DVDs are 16:9, but Joss Whedon intended it to be 4:3. I don't mind it being widescreen - I have fun spotting the boom mics!

And out of interest, which seasons of Stargate are widescreen? Am I right in thinking they're S6 onwards?

Should your TV be able to just put the bars on the side of the screen and keep the aspect ratio correct? Pretty dodgy if it doesnt...

Yeah, but it has an auto zoom feature that automatically zooms in, so I have to find my original TV remote and manually zoom out, and when I tell it to stay like that, it doesn't show widescreen ones in widescreen! I've come to accept people looking fat, though.

EDIT: Thank you so much, Agent Dark! After tinkering about in the menus, I discovered that by disabling the auto-zoom function rather than telling it to stick to 4:3, it shows 4:3 and 16:9 in the right aspect ratio. Yay!

Widescreen would be my prefered choice.

Full screen is just... I dunno...

Widescreen you can see more and it's pretty... I don't have a widescreen TV, but my sister has a widescreen monitor.

Depends on what I am watching! The original/intended aspect ratio is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS the correct to watch, personal preference be darned. I voted Widescreen though, as I have a 16:9 TV.

Stargate was always shot in widescreen, and are preserved that way on the DVDs. The first five seasons weren't shown in Widescreen when they originally aired, though, so in a way your guess about season 6 is right...
