    Sci-Fi Movie: Crimson Force

It was an OK movie. However, what fascinated me most was that it used Sumerian mythology. Mars was 'Niburu', of the Anunnaki race (the martians) who mixed their race with a primtive Earth hominid. Right out of Sumerian legend... I thought it was an interesting use of Ancient Sumerian mythology, and the first time I've ever seen the mythos on film. It wasn't a great movie, but it was OK. Did anyone else see it, and what did you think?

Oh yeah... Just thought I'd add, that it also starred Tony Amendola (a.k.a.- Master Bra'Tac), and that black guy that played the General in that episode where the X-301 failed its test. So it is definitely Stargate related... In the movie, Tony Amendola was the leader of the Anunnaki (the martians) named Marduk. The General guy, was some astronaut that ended up becoming the Ambassador from Earth to Mars.

story needs work but i liked the staff weapons though they seem strangly familiar. as well some of the arcuticture of the sets was cool.
Why is it every time I gate to P3X-797 my bags always end up on P3X-888.

I saw like 15 minutes of it and changed channels. Then I saw about another 5 minutes of it and then changed the channel again. It just seemed to corny to me.

The best thing about the movie was Tony Amendola. Also, the ending of the movie was far better than I thought it would turn out. It's nothing I'd care to see twice.

But the staff weapons were familiar looking.

The movie was made by UFO Films, and they have a blog:

I find that in all these "SCIFI Originals" once you've seen the promos, you've seen the best scenes the movie has to offer. But that's just me...

When i saw Crimson Force, (es[ecially the parts where they got to the pyramid), i thought how stargate-ish the movie was becoming. And when i saw the staff things, i thought, "Wow. Jaffa wearing the wrong costumes, and using the wrong staff weapons."

Seriously, the first thing that came to my mind when i saw the guys with the staffs was "Jaffa" and "Staff Weapon."

            A cheap shot on a stargate-wannabe?

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this film, Crimson Force is definitely an exception to the rule that SCIFI Pictures generally stink. The story was interesting and had more depth, and the scale of the film was rather epic in scope, you didn't see much evidence of a limited budget in the sets and SFX. I thought the performances of the two lead characters (the couple) were great, as was the Warrior Priestess and Tony Amendola as the Head Priest. The idea of 'Free Energy' was a bit hokey but interesting.

This movie had action, romance, and suspenseful turns here and there, making for a very interesting cinematic experience. I liked the ending too...

Only one thing that bothered me a bit was how the second Priest would explain Martian stories in Earth parlance, like 'monuments to us, your Stonehenge, Easter Island,' which seemed to me to be quite an Earth-centric way of saying things.

The movie also seemed edited down a bit, I'm pretty sure that if Crimson Force comes out on DVD, there will be additional scenes/lines of dialogue.

In hindsight, my post above made it seem i was bashing Crimson Force. In fact, i'm not really bashing it. I was just surprised to the level of similarity between the Jaffa of the Stargate universe and the people with the staff weapon things in Crimson Force.

Crimson force was actually a cut above the average offerings made by SciFi Originals. I actually watched the whole thing (a rarity given Sci-Fi's spotty record with their latest Originals). So yes, Crimson Force offered some nice entertainment. And of course, I forgot who Tony Amendola played in stargate (was he Bra'tac? or someone else?), so i didn't recognize Tony in Crimson Force.

That's probably because of all the StarGate similarities. It really was better than most of the usual fare offered by SciFi channel, but I still stand by my prior post.

Well, as I said before... the most fascinating thing for me was that they made the Martians, into the Anunnaki of Sumerian legend. (Remember their holiest days was "Sumeron"??) Marduk is one of the gods of Sumerian legend, and Nibiru is the planet they were said to live on. Which is of course why the martians in the movie called Mars, Nibiru. The Sumerian legend itself states that modern humans are the product of cross-breeding between the Anunnaki and a primitive human beast. The legend also says that the Anunnaki had the new humans work for them. They mined gold, built cities, and fought wars in the name of the Anunnaki. Interestingly, the word Anunnaki itself, means "those who from Heaven to Earth came"... or something like that. Also, in Sumerian legend, the 'gods' were not immortal. They could be killed, and some were. They were however, extremely long lived. The three most important deities of the Anunnaki were Anu (the chief god), and his two sons (half-brothers), Enlil (lord of the sky) and Enki (lord of the Earth). It was Enki and his wife/sister that was responsible for producing humans. Well, it was Enki's idea, but his wife helped him by being the first to be impregnated with a human producing the 'Adam'. Later, they got 7 other 'goddesses' to do the dirty work for them. Supposedly that was how the human race came about. Eventually though, Enki gave the humans (being hybrids, thus unable to reproduce) the ability to concieve their own children. That really ticked off Enlil, who decided that humans were becoming too much. Then the flood was coming (the Anunnaki didn't cause it, but they did know about it), and Enlil ordered Enki and the other 'gods' not to tell the humans. Enki defied those orders though, and told Utnapishtim (Sumerian version of Noah) about it, and how to escape it. Sometime after that, the Anunnaki left humans to rule themselves. So, Crimson Force covered a fair bit of that... which is more than any other TV show or film has done, that I've seen. There are of course similiarities to Stargate, because both use ancient history/mythology in their stories and premise. As to free Energy... I don't know. I think it could be possible, I just don't know how.
