In her interview with the 'Chicago Tribune,' Claudia said:

Okay, so that last part sounds a bit...iffy.

I don't think there's any question

TPTB want her back (and how). So, while it's possible that Vala will be "presumed dead" at the end of Beachhead, my guess is it's every bit as possible - if not downright likely - that she is "THAT character," the one set to reappear in Episode 18.

I wouldn't count her out, regardless.

Damian Kindler is writing an episode - and it looks to be Episode 18 or so - in which "THAT character" returns.

No official word yet on who "THAT character" is, except that it isn't the "much-loved, sorely-missed character" (presumably Janet) who will be appearing in 'Ripple Effect,' it's someone else. Someone who isn't Hammond either, apparently, as he is putting in an appearance in 'The Fourth Horseman.'

Vala seems as good a bet as any. She's my best guess, at any rate.

She's definitely a keeper.
