Welcome to Jack O'Neill M.A.D. Thread (= Moments, Appreciation & Discussion)
OK.. everybody else has an appreciation thread, why not Jack ?
For the man who lead SG-1 through it all, you gotta appreciate his sense of survival, he's not the smartest, he's not the strongest, he's sucked at diplomacy but at the end he's the one who bring them home and he never left anyone behind either.
He's simple (howmany times he simplify Carter's technobable?) but complicated, silly (come on ! colonel with yo-yo ? :p ) but smart (learn latin/ancient in months  ) too, funny a lot of the time, but everybody at SGC take him seriously.
One thing for sure, nobody in this galaxy can mock the system lords like Jack O'Neill, that's been said, I'm so going to miss 'that' in season 9. As Daniel would say : "I'm gonna miss that O'Neill moment"
My latest favorite was with Baal in Reckoning 1 :
Baal : Impudence !
Jack : No ! Tuna ! :D
Anyway, that just happens to be how I feel about it...what do you think? :D

I completely agree. Jack's wit cannot be matched by anyone and no one can replace him, though I am sure Ben Browder will give it a go. The Jack O'Neill (that two L's) character is one of a kind. I am going to miss his sarcastic wit and complete and utter lack of sublety and charm.
So what's everyone's favorite Jack line? I love the one from Window of Opportunity where he explains the meaning of going nuts to Teal'c.

- That was a waste of a perfectly good explanation.
- It's just a little weird hearin' that kind of stuff come out of someone so ...... hot.
- Don't you keep me waiting!
- It's my sidearm, i swear!
- Too bad we can't just drive across the galaxy, this thing handles like a Cadillac on the ground.
(uh, there is a thunk thread, but i don't know if thats the same as appreciation)

He does have oodles of charm, that's for sure. I saw "Rules of Engagement" today and there's nothing like Jack when he is in serious full soldier mode - I WILL miss him so much; a true original. Thanks for all the great memories, RDA.

I'll join in with you crazy kids. :) Jack's sense of humor is partly what hooked me into the show. So many classic lines. It was nice to see some of that again towards the end of season 8, he'd seemed so lost for most of it. The scene where he's glad to be interrupted in Moebius 2 was priceless.

I also find it hugely funny that Jack (and RDA) are such Simpsons fans, considering how MacGyver is regularly mentioned on that show. :)

Thunk and appreciation. Some of us can seperate them, some of us cannot. All I know is the damn powers that be are driving me nuts with season 9. On one hand I was thrilled that RDA gonna be in two episodes(YAY!! two more chances to see JacK!) on the other hand it's gonna be danged anoying if I have to buy the box set. and only get two eps with Jack. but I'll have to buy it because he's in two eps.You see my problem here?

More often than not Jack lent some lighthearted quirkiness to the group… I wonder who will pick up that mantle? Neither Ben nor Jeff B. seems overly funny. Maybe Daniel’s inner-sarcastic child will be more fully developed?

Woohoo ! looks like I'm not the only one who 'appreciate' O'Neillism
As early as COTG, I thought he's so smart to send the tissue box to Daniel in Abydos, as I watched again later-on, I came to think that even if Carter or Mckay or other scientists were there, they wouldn't come out with that simple way (maybe sending a MALP or whatever dohickeys).
The O'Neill moment in COTG, I think was when he looked at Teal'c and ask him to 'Trust me !" and later on saying "For this, you can stay with me"
Ugh... so gonna miss Jack :(

Yeah, I probably should have mentioned the episoode was "2001," but at the time I wasn't sure. I see a couple of people didn't need the mention; hats off!
Any time Jack can do something to irritate Kinsey is a favorite of mine, and I really hated it when they had to shake hands in Smoke & Mirrors...a very bitter pill to swallow.

I think my all time favorite quote has to be..." it's my sidearm, I swear."
But, I think I appreciate Jack the most when he doesn't say anything at all. I LOVE the way he uses his eyes and facial expressions to get across what he's thinking. RDA does that sooo well!! He will be truly missed. I hope he decides he's bored often and makes many guest appearances. Here's to you, Rick!!

I'm with you there gatewatcher, Jack comes up with some wickedly dry and sarcastic remarks and put downs that work so well with that body language of his. I really enjoy how RDA can convey so much about how his character feels this way, everything from deep frustration to minor irritation and all places in between are a treat to watch. I always love the fidgeting with pencils and papers when there's too much talk and not enough action, plus the raised eyebrow and the sulky silence and of course that big sarcastic grin or the curl of the lip, so much to appreciate ... so much to miss *sniff*.

HUH?! I forget about this Thread, and I'm the one who started it *smack self* busy with RL and thunking in Thunk Threads.
What I'm gonna say.. uh yeah, just watch Death Knell in FOX last weekend, the scene where just after SG-3 arrive and he told Col. Reynold to look around for survivors, and Reynolds muttered : 'Who could survived these ?' and then the camera shot at Jack who is surely GLARED his hard-a$$ Colonel glare through his shades because Reynold is like gulping and then do as he told. Sweet! take that marine ! our flyboy rule! :p :p
Of course big applause for RDA to be able to pull that off, which again... so gonna miss both RDA & JACK on season 9. :(

RDA/Jack's charisma ooozzzes out of the tv set. He is and will always be THE MAN. Will miss his wit, one liners that non of the other cast can carry like he does. He is one of a kind.
One liners of the top of my head
Not on my back swing.
Duh

Any lines he says to Baal are always funny
Any lines he says to Maybourne is equally great "Strasky and Hutch"

I found this thread last night, but was too tired to come up with any good thoughts on my favorite character of sg-1.
Sadly I haven't seen as much of the Jack I love in recent years. :(
He has this ability to really connect with people in a very personal way. He just throws out all that BS and gets to the heart of things. He's a great people person.
As a leader he knows people's strengths and he let's them do their job. Some say he's rude to Sam when he cuts her off when she's explaining things, but he simply doesn't need to know this information. He does know who knows it and who is best for the job. Just some of the things I love about Jack. :)

I agree with you, twiggy! But in all fairness to TPTB (and I never cut them any slack), they didn't get rid of RDA. He decided he wanted to spend more time with his daughter, who lives in California. I'm just hoping he'll come back for a few more eps as a guest star.
Jack, Jack, don't leave us!
(Oops.....sorry.....had another No Jack Panic Attack.....regains composure.....for now)
"I swear, it's my sidearm," is an all-time classic! But any line RDA delivers can be wonderful and snarky, because of the way he delivers it. I remember him describing his role on Stargate SG-1 one time: "Ya know, it's basically mouth off, mouth off, shoot something. Shoot something, mouth off." He just has that magic, and even though I liked BB & Farscape, I don't think anyone can replace RDA or Jack.....nor should they have tried.

Jack O'neill is my favorite out of Sg-1. I'm going to miss him he may have not been smart but he still was a great leader. My Favrite moments was always was when Carter comes up with a "Smart plain" ( as in one that is hard to understand) after she gets into explaining the plain O'neill stops her and says will it work, carter says yes sir but, and O'neill goes If itill work then we will do it. O'neill makes me laugh when that happens.

I'm really going to miss Jack!
I love his dry, caustic humor and his pop-culture references (gives a feeling of the here-and-now instead of in-a-galaxy-far-far-away).....his little tete-a-tetes with Ba'al :D......his wonderful loyalty to his friends (but heaven help you if you're not his friend!).....
I love the outer crustiness that he's developed over the years to protect himself (and yet his ability to let the sensitive, inner Jack come out when he talks with kids)......that he's a great deal smarter than he lets on (imo, to keep people off his back)......that he has "the common touch" without being common.....
I love that he's a man of action and a good leader (I wouldn't have any second thoughts about being under his authority).......that, although it may seem like he's making snap judgments, he really does have an innate sense of whether a person can be trusted and acts on that sense.....
Like the rest of SG-1, he's a truly unique individual. As far as I'm concerned, once he leaves, the team's whole balance will be thrown off and no new character will be able to correct that imbalance. :(

The interrogation scene in '1969'
O'Neill: (calmly) Captain James T. Kirk, of the starship Enterprise.
Thornbird: And your dog tags say otherwise.
O'Neill: They're lying.
...
Thornbird: Our cameras showed some sort of weapon.
O'Neill: Oh. Well, it's hard to say.
Thornbird: Some sort of state secret?
O'Neill: No, just difficult to pronounce.
...
O'Neill: (pretending to be impressed) Ooh. All right. I'll be honest with you, Bob. My name's not Kirk. (pausing for effect) It's Skywalker. Luke Skywalker.
LMAO! Love that scene!

One thing (among many) that I love about Jack is the way you can never be quite sure what will come out of his mouth. It could be funny, sarcastic, impudent, commanding, demanding, heart wrenching, tender, loving, and sometimes, completely expressionless. His expressions can give you a hint sometimes, but definately not always.
What will Jack say today?

Yes, he has a way of delivering lines so that they seem off the cuff even when they're scripted. In the scene in the episode where Anubis first sends his holo-image to the SGC and says "prepare to meet your doom;" Jack says "who talks that way?" I think they said in the commentary that that was RDA's line.

Amen to that. Jack's facial expressions just get me laughing at least once an episode. Hell he's the comedy part of the whole show, I can't remember there being many occasions where I laughed without it having to do anything with Jack. Well except for Teal's frowns and stoic responses at times, but I'm digressing.
I'm new to this forum, and consciously chose this nick because I took note of the different episodes where O'Neill refers to 'The Wizard Of Oz' [insert episode names here]. There are over 5 for sure, him referring to Dorothy, the Yellow brick road, Esmerald City, the wicked witch, I just LOVE all that. Intertextuality in general, but Jack does this all so well!
I love the way he mocks the Goa'ulds in their faces too, he just doesn't care! And all his remarks about being captured from the 1000th time and acting totally uninterested when a new Goa'uld approaches. This develops through the different seasons, when he will round up the Goa'uld as those guys with shiny eyes, cliché-badguy-behaviour, evilness... I can't hold my laugh whenever such a situation occurs.
My favorite Jack Episode (and in short my favorite Stargate episode of all time) "Window of Opportunity" especially for the dialogue with Daniel where he goes 'crazy': "It means go crazy...nuts...insane...bonzo...no longer in possession of one's faculties...3 fries short of a happy meal...WACKO!" Brilliant stuff. I loved the way he just got to do all the things he always wanted to do, like playing golf and riding this little kid's bike through the hallways: it doesn't get much funnier than that.
Hooray for Jack, Hooray for Jack, bloody hooray :p

Hooray for a bit of Jack appreciation!! :D :D
I definitely became a huge SG1 fan mainly because of Jack and his wacky ROFL sense of humour and like so many will miss him dreadfully in S9 :(
However RDA has given us 8 fab years and 8 fab boxsets to watch and rewatch and watch again and ..... just trying to be optimistic!
Anyway just wanted to check in and say YEA! to this thread and will be back soon with another classic Jack quote to add to the great ones here already :)

Wow... a lot of new post here.. I admit I was a bit disheartened awhile back when nobody seems to post more in here. It really boggled my mind that Sam/Daniel has their own appreciation thread and not many interested in Jack's.
I admit that I guiltily spend more and more time on the RDA/JON Thunk Thread.. hey the MAN is sooo easy on the eyes :o :p but to me -IMHO- to appreciate Jack as Jack (and not RDA as Jack) is to post & discuss Jack's antics in this thread, and he has A LOT of THOSE !!
So please post more.. and I will happily read and add and grumble with the lots of you about JACK-LESS season 9 :(
To go back on topic :
In Fallen (about Teal'c being a jaffa) : No, but he plays one on TV :D
And he's waiting until Hammond said : 'God speed', before he feels 'complete' to blast Anubis powercore
In Homecoming (about being punished publicly) : DOes it have to be publicly ? (then the Jaffa point him the Staff weapon) Publicly is fine ! (and seems like his finger get caught in the closing of the staff weapon :D )

In 'Fire and Water'.
After smashing the car window.
When General Hammond tells him to come back into the yard with everyone else.
Hammond: "You know that was my car."
Jack: "You'll have to do something about that window."
Even in his misery over losing Daniel, Jacks one-liners keep on coming. :D :D

Yes, I think over the years Hammond has develop a lot of leniancy (sp?) and patience for Jack. I don't think he realised that when he asked Jack to join SGC at COTG.
I think the only time Hammond feels smug satisfaction is when Jack stutter and mumbles in front of (the real) General Ryan in Prodigy
I remember at the end of Fire & Water, Jack ask Daniel to tell them the story over sushi :D :D which is his way of saying : 'hey I'm happy your back let's celebrate over dinner' but still make a jab at Daniel being held prison by a 'fish' people.

IMHO Prodigy is a so-so episode as a whole, but I love the scene when Hailey tried to put down her excitement on gate-travel and remembering her manner when talking with THE COLONEL OF SG-1 and Jack just smile knowingly, *sigh* and also the fact that Jack willingly take a ZAT shot to save everybody.. and the scene quite funny too... you just gotta love dead-pan expression on Teal'c.

Even in the so-so episodes there are Jack moments that made it worth watching.
I just saw 'Full Circle' for the first time the other day on SciFi, and the whole elevator scene when Daniel tries to warn Jack, but Jack just brushes it off for a minute, making Daniel do a little catching-up type small talk. That was just so very Jack, and I loved it.
Oh, I didn't mean to imply that 'Full Circle' was a so-so episode. I was just proof reading above statements and realized that read together, one could infer that I thought it was... FCOL! Can you tell it is very late as I am typing this!! Just... whatever..

I'm running a Jack quotes game at the moment so I have a number of quotes to hand. :) What I love is Jack's (RDA's?) ability to push the envelope in his language...saying some wicked things! LOL
"You know that 'We come in peace' business? Bite me."
"I guess we'll just mosey on back to Earth. Tell General Hammond how the Tok'ra boned us again."
"I hope you diplomatically told him where to shove it."
And for me, the most outrageous line of them all: Jack, singing under his breath, "...tell me that you love me..."
And the unexpected--and funny:
"You ended that sentence with a preposition! B@$t@rd!" (Hey, HE said it, I didn't!)

Now, Jack, the compassionate man:
“Killing a man is no badge of honor, Captain.”
“There are a lot of things we do, that we wish we could change and we sure as hell can’t forget. But the whole concept of chain of command undermines the idea of free will. So, as soldiers, we have to do some pretty awful stuff. But we’re following orders, like we were trained to do. It doesn’t make it easier, it certainly doesn’t make it right. But it does put some of the responsibility on the guy giving the orders.”
“Is anyone at the Pentagon or along the chain of command remotely concerned about their Aboriginal rights, repeating history, that annoyingly pesky moral stuff…?”
"I am asking you not to sacrifice Earth and God knows how many other planets to save your own ass! I’m asking you to do the right thing, and you know it!"

WOW ! thanks SHARP for posting those quotes.. (will help more if you include the Title where it come from, at least for me :o )
In the later years, Jack saying less profound long speeches, and more one liners, not that I complain coz those lines still kick butt , but I think the writers do not dig deeper into O'Neill character than in the early years.
We know more and more background characterisation of Sam, Daniel & Teal'c. Sam feels lonely because of this, Daniel choose ascencion because of that, Teal'c decide to do this instead of that because of... -you get the idea... but what of Jack ? All we know that he's ex Black-ops (and a lot of his action refered to that without further explanation), he lost Charlie, he's sad but he recovered, he loves kid, he loves dog, he won't left anyone behind (why ? I actually got a logical explanation of this from a fan-fic and not from the show  ) what else than those ?
You see an early episode of SG-1 and compare to say season 7 (while he still a COlonel), IMHO Jack doesn't change much unlike the others.

Your wish is my command. The episodes are, in order of the quotes I used:
New Ground
Crossroads
Shadow Play
Forsaken (and I truly believe the song only got past the censors because they didn't recognize what he was singing--Monty Python's "Sit on my Face" ROTFLMAO)
The Other Guys
The First Commandment
Cor'ai
Spirits
Between Two Fires
Small Victories

Well we're from the mid-west US so I grew up with 'for crying out loud' But I have done the 'Lucy, I'm home' and when I have this think where I quote Tin Man, you know, "Ladies and Gentlemen this is your Colonel speaking. Welcome to P3X-989er where the weather is a balmy room temperature' and sometimes I even ad the 'fan out'. I just loved that quote since the first time I heard it. When I complain about modern cars (and yes, I did have strong personal feeling about the 'Vette's body style BEFORE watching 1969) But I don't think complaints ever came out as 'they used to be so cool' until Jack said it. OK, bear with me, my computer is going SO slow. I have watched Stargate from the beginning and whilst I love all the characters, even some of the minor ones(Silier, Walter etc), it's Jack that I truly love.
Smack me, slap me, I didn't really watch McGyver. :( :( I know who RDA was when Stargate started but his charisma captured me in the very first episode. Especially when he was trying to stop Hammond from sending the bomb through to Abydos. His loyalty to 'his team', even though he had retired. I was hooked from then and then you add in the meeting with Sam.(HELLO!) :D The reunion with Daniel and the liberation of Teal'c:- "For this you can stay at my place." and I never looked back.
We have yet to see S9 but I am already dreading saying goodbye to Jack and to RDA although I have to say his reasons for leaving are the best reasons in the world to leave something that is so popular. His daughter is his first concern and that only makes me love the man all the more. I'm sure in other circumstances he would probably stayed on in the role he had in S8. Slightly in the background as the General but still on our screens. But he will always be in our hearts.

Never was that much of a RDA fan (in school all day during his soap years and couldn't get past the mullet later) but I fell in love with Jack O'Neill from the very first episode I ever saw.
And as much as I love the sly, sarcastic wit, the loyalty, the tenderness, the bravado and the bravery of the character, I think my favorite Jack moments are the ones where he goes into what someone earlier in this thread called his "full-out miltary mode."
Gotta love a man with a big gun, who really knows how to use it...
And for no real good reason, other than it just tickles me, every time I see it, I love the part in the episode where the Prometheus is stolen when he comes charging out of the SUV bellowing at the top of his lungs at the guy from the Pentagon, wanting to know just how in the hell this happened...makes me chuckle, every time.

Oh yeah, Jack in a bad mood or in full military action is a sight to be seen and WHAT A SIGHT.
I felt so bad for Major Davis, Jack was totally pi$$ed and who could blame him considering that the site was supposed to be the most secure site in the whole world.

There's this moment in the ep when the ashrak is loos on the planet where the Tok'ra, the Jaffa rebels and the Tau'ri are all trying really hard to just get along (yes, I know, I suck at remembering titles) and the ashrak is coming at them and all Jack can see is the ripple in the air. He tosses the big gun, pulls out his knife and get set to fight an enemy he cannot see, mano a ashrak...Man! Now, that is cool.
And then Malek, the Tok'ra, steps up, with his knife out and stands ready to do battle at Jack's side. Gotta love it...

JACKSON: "They were, um, female warriors who, occasionally ... captured men from other tribes in order to mate with them. They would often, um ... would sometimes remove their right breast so they could more easily fire a bow and arrow."
O'NEILL: "I see neither bow nor arrow ..."
JACKSON: "No."
O'NEILL: "Wait ... you don't suppose that's why they want us, do you? I mean, you know, the three of us?"
JACKSON: "You t- to mate with? No, no ... I don't think so ..."
O'NEILL: "Well, because you know me ... I'm all for helping people."
Priceless!! :p :)
Ah Birthright.. the one that make me LMAO is Daniel saying "POWER BAR ??!" and of course Jack took it.. he's all about 'helping' people after all :D :D

Geez..All my posts today are about Beneath the Surface... but I loved that episode...
The shippy scene between 'Jonah' and 'Thera'....
Jonah: I remember feeling feelings.
Thera: For me?
Jonah: No, for Tor.
Even when he doesn't remember he's Jack, he's so Jack.

Hey there L-JADE!
I know what you mean about RL...I'm in the middle of five 12 hour shifts at work, 3 of which are nights and it totally messes with my posting time :(
I won't get S9 until Oct but from what I've heard over on the S&J ship thread I can't say I'm counting the days mainly because of the mega lack of Jack.
Have a feeling I'm gonna be spending more time in this thread reminising about our main man!! :p

Yes! exactly ... I agree with some of the fans who said that without Jack, SG-1 should become (sort of) Stargate-The Next Generation or spin-off.
IMHO season 8 excluding Reckoning, Threads & Moebius was bad enough with the lack of Jack. And now .. *sigh* I know Ben Browder was good at Farscape and he might be bringing some new freshness in an 'old' show like critics said, but still... no Jack ? :( :(
I always think that even without Daniel in season 6, SG-1 still good, some said it even better because the freshness that Jonas bring to the show and the writers came up with a very interesting story in that season. But I think it's because Jack is still there, he hold the key and cohesiveness of SG-1.
And for some fans who said that season 9 is better without Jack, I can only quote Jack (in Zero Hours) : NUTS!!

Thanks, Billie!!
I think one of the reasons I like Jack is because he's done things that made me angry, things I disagreed with--in other words, not a perfect person.
Oh, you want details? Well, Shades of Gray can STILL make me wanna FWAP him on the head, really, really hard, even though he looks so incredibly hot in that one. But it's important that he have those flaws, they make him--him. Oh yeah, now THAT was articulate. Time for bed!

I saw ORPHEUS in syndication last weekend, I think I saw it for the fifth time or something... I like everyone in there, I think every member SG-1 has each their moments, for once I even like Ry'ac. But everytime I see it I can help but saying WOOHOO! when Jack said to the teams : COME ON BOYS, HAVE AT THEM and they shooting at the Jaffa with all their pent-up emotions all night (listening to Tea'lc & Rak'nor torture).
IMHO That's is a Jack's moment, he knows when to hold back and he knows when to let loose.. he even step back at the Gate-room and let Bra'tac thanks Daniel & Hammond, I'm kinda disappointed that Bra'tac didn't even thanks Jack, it was his strategy after all.

Hi guys,
This is just a quick "recruiting" post.
As many of you know, there's a tournament going on. Yes, that one. :) The "Last Man Standing" competition where you vote off one episode a day. The one I'm running. ;)
The reason I'm posting in here is that, every day for the last couple of months, people have been posting updates and "please come vote" posts in the Sam appreciation thread. It's gotten to the point where every Sam fan and Sam/Jack shipper is voting in the tournament. Which is great, but, well, not that I don't like Sam, but...
Speaking as the person running the tournament - the whole point of the tournament is to get a list of which episodes are best overall, according to the opinions of a representative subset of the fandom. If all of the Sam fans are voting, but only about 1/6 of the fans of other characters are voting, this skews everything!
So, please come participate? I promise, it's fun! I also promise the first time's the hardest - after that, it's just a matter of editing your votes from the day before :)
To vote, follow the link in my sig and read the FAQ. The short version of the FAQ is this: the first post in the thread lists which eps have already gotten the axe, and which episodes remain. Of the eps remaining, pick your 8 least favorite (the eps you most want to get the axe).
Do not vote for eps that have already gotten the axe.
Do not vote for the same ep more than once per round.
Do not vote for any season 8 eps (the tournament is just seasons 1-7).
If you do any of those three things, then I can't count your post for that round. In the next round, repeat (if an ep on your list got the axe, remove it from your list and replace it with another from the list of eps remaining).
Come! Participate! Please! I really, really would like a representative group participating in the tournament!
Many thanks! :)
L-JADE

Thanks Katerine... I've been voting for a few rounds now, you're right it's fun and the people are varied, there are Daniel's fans, Sam's fan, J/S Shippers and J/S anti-shipper, so I guess I should say : come on JACK's fans, have at it ! join the fun.

I don't think these Jack moments have been mentioned yet:
In "Rite of Passage" his explanation of Cassandra's telekenesis--he went through this whole thing about magnets. Janet's look was priceless.
And in "New Ground" when the aliens want an explanation of the Stargate he says it's "magic" and "giant worms." Cracks me up.

August 9th, 2005, 07:32 PM
It's been a long time since I post here, the reason is part RL and part that I'm kinda sad with Season 9. There's no Jack and the fleeting moments that has Jack is not really Jack at all, if and when you guys see it, you'll know what I meant. I was so upset with Origin that I open a thread "The Worst Character send-off" and reading what the poll assure me that a lot of people missing Jack.
And as Ancient 61 said, Jack is the heart of SG-1, the Season 9 SG-1 has lose that special SG-1 vibe/mojo, I really hope when AT return, they get better. I ordered Season 8 DVD, when it's arrived I gonna have my fill of Jack final year *sigh again*

I know what you mean L-JADE. I haven't seen S9 yet but am already mourning the loss of IMO the best character in a sci fi show. We can only hope that RDA will feel able to make a comeback, even if it is a mini one, if stargate (can't call it sg1 anymore coz without Jack it just doesn't seem right) runs into season 10.
And on that note, here's just another of many classic Jack O'Neill moments. Its from Revelations (S5) when they are disgussing Asgard reproduction
HEIMDALL: As a race, the Asgard reproduce exclusively through a process of enhanced cellular mitosis.
CARTER: Are you serious? You have no other means of propagation?
HEIMDALL: No.
[Carter looks surprised.]
O'NEILL: Carter?
CARTER: They're clones, sir. All of them.
O'NEILL: Ah. Well, that answers a few questions.
HEIMDALL: In fact, for nearly a thousand years, we have been physically incapable of achieving cell division through meiosis.
[O'Neill looks questioningly at Carter.]
O'NEILL: Hmm?
CARTER: Sexual reproduction, Sir.
O'NEILL: Ah. (to Heimdall) A thousand years?
HEIMDALL: It is not something we usually discuss with other races.
O'NEILL: This I understand.

MARTIN
A top secret government program involving instantaneous travel to other solar systems by means of a device known as a Stargate!
[O'Neill looks at him unconvinced.]
O'NEILL
Sounds like a good idea for a TV show…if you're into that sort of thing!
MARTIN
Colonel, let's not play games. If it isn't true then why did you come here?
O'NEILL
The truth! There is a top-secret government program called project Stargate.
MARTIN
(excitedly)
I knew it!
O'NEILL
But it has nothing to do with space travel.
[Martin looks disappointed.]
MARTIN
What does it have to do with?
[O'Neill looks very serious and leans over slightly to talk to Martin.]

I just re-watched " A Matter of Time" last night. I love the beginning when Sam is trying to explain wormholes to him by saying 'think of the universe as an apple...' and at first he gets it, but then Sam gets more technical and loses him. He looks like his head is going to explode, but tells here, 'I'll be ok.'

Anyway, that just happens to be how I feel about it...what do you think? :D
"I know this one... Magnets!"
-Jack, "Window of Opportunity"
The funniest "magnets" line of them all. That just happens to be how I feel about it.
Another light-hearted Jack moment for the memory books:
Season 3, Crystal Skull
Opening Scene in the Control Room:
SAM: Well look at these readings, sir. These are leptons.
JACK: Get out.
SAM: That means something inside this pyramid is slowing down neutrinos. Normally neutrinos pass right through ordinary matter, no matter how dense. I mean, something like five hundred million billion just passed through you.
JACK: No matter how dense?
---
Later, in the briefing room:
JANET: Colonel I can only guess the effect this type of radiation may have on the human body. I recommend limited exposure, ten, fifteen minutes at most.
DANIEL: Wait a minute, that's not enough time. I mean, there has to be some sort of radiation suit or...
JACK: Hey. If you'd been listening, you'd know that Nintendos pass through everything.
Dear, dear Jack. He plays the "not that complex" so well.
I love, love, love funny Jack.
There is a serious side of Jack, and he does it right. My all-time favorite show that completely defines the real Jack to me is in season 4, "The Other Side." The whole team is disagreeing with each other and it really comes to a boil, but all the way through, Jack holds the team together. Even when he admits he was wrong, you know he wasn't really wrong, he just didn't have enough information. He's that good of a commander to know how to correct himself.
I'm getting goosebumps just remembering it!
I love, love, love serious Jack.

August 17th, 2005, 11:16 AM
Bumping back up to page one, again.
Oh yeah, Jack appreciation...
Once Jack committed his friendship to Teal'c, he stuck with it. In Thor's Hammer (season 1), we see what commitment means to Jack when he tried to save Teal’c from Thor’s Hammer and got himself zapped down to the cave along with Teal’c. His first question to Teal’c? “Is Junior okay?” As much as those snakes give him the willies!
And when they find that the way out is through the Hall of Mjollnir and that Jack can leave without harm but Teal’c’s symbiote will be killed Jack won’t leave. “Teal'c. I'm not goin' anywhere. Lets just find this…Hall of Mohair or whatever it's called.”
And when Jack is joking, we know he’s not too worried, and if Jack isn’t too worried, then we know everything is going to be okay.

I love that part. I really like all scenes with Jack and Teal'c. They are so great together. Two tough guys completely in tune with each other just going about saving the world, thank you very much.
I try to stay out of the thunking thread because it's mostly RDA and I prefer to keep away from the actor's personal lives. It never fails, the more I learn about the actor, the less I like the character. So when you started this thread I was thrilled to pieces. Therefore, I will keep bumping as needed every chance I get.

Jack has such great self-restraint.
For example, in Chain Reaction, when he was holding the gun on Kinsey and Kinsey was spouting off about how his actions were all for the sake of God. How did Jack keep from pulling the trigger right then?

LMAO, that's so typical of men thinking that women would feel less guilty if we choose diet-soda (and I like diet-soda better too :D ) and again the S/J shipper in me love the scene inside the mother ship when Sam trapped and... to be continued in Divide&Conquer

Thank you all for posting, you guys really make my day. And yes, so hard to keep this thread on front page, at some point even I forgot about it  so I keep the link in my sig to remind myself :o
I'm always eager to discuss/appreciate Jack, coz I think he's quite a complex man beneath the easy facade he keeps, and it's amazing what others have post in Daniel/Sam appreciation threads, hence this thread coz I think Jack also deserved (if not more) to be appreciated.
So *rub hands* Billie... I know that one.. Full Circle! Love that banter with Herak and of course the end of that is .... , SPANK ME ROSY!! :D :D
I think that episode is so full of O'Neill moments.. from the elevator scene with Daniel to Skaara wedding invite (the S/J shipper in me squeeing :p ) too bad Skaara ascended, otherwise that would be nice to see.
Okay, so hubby and I have had an interesting discussion of the 'Spank me' quote. Is he saying 'Spank me rosy.' as in color his *ahem* will be after being spanked. Or 'Spank me, Rosey.' as in name of whom he wants to spank him. Like Rosey O'Donnell. I have seen it written both ways in different threads. Either way, I don't care. I can pretend to be 'Rosey'.

I thought he said Spank me rosy! as an expression since they get out from such impossible situation practically with no injury & quite easy (he even can accept a spanking there and then).
That's what I get from that line which was ad-lib, but then RDA might meant something else

Its a british thing I think. I've heard the expression since I was a kid. Taken literally, it means spank me till my bum's sore (ie rosy in colour, but its a sarcastic thing. No surprise there :D
I watched Covenant last night (well, very early this morning *yawn*. Couldn't sleep so who better to spend the night with than SG-1?). The scene in Jack's office with Jack, Thor and Danie, then Sam comes in the doorway is great!
O'NEILL: Umm ... how 'bout a hyperdrive for the Prometheus?
(The camera pans across and we see that Thor and Daniel are sitting in the chairs opposite.)
THOR: That is something I must discuss with the High Council.
O'NEILL: Thor, c'mon! You said you wanted to get something nice for the President.
and
O'NEILL: Well, Thor and I are meeting with the President in five minutes. I'll bring it up. (He picks up his hat and tucks it under his arm, and starts to button his jacket.)
CARTER: Five minutes?
O'NEILL (smiling smugly): Oh yeah!
(He and Thor are transported out of the office.)
Cracks me up every time. I love Jack's whole persona - the way he appears to be so shallow and sarcastic, but the intelligence that sparkles behind his lovely eyes :D

Re: Spank me rosy.
I always took it to mean rosy in color. I never heard it until this show. Guess I live a pretty isolated life here in the U.S. Midwest!
I watched The Curse last night and delighted in more quality scenes with Jack and Teal'c. First after Sam blows off another invitation to the lake, Jack snags Teal'c! And then at the lake!!!! Teal'c just stands on the dock, looking absolutely out of his element, slapping mosquitos, begging Daniel to save him when the forbidden cell phone rings... And Jack ignoring him while trying to get him to see the glory of it. "It's not about the actual fish themselves. ...it's about fishing!"

Oo, oo! Here's an excellent Jack look.
In Chimera when they're in the briefing room discussing how to catch Osiris and Jack says to Daniel, "And how are we supposed to know when you know if it's all happening in your head while you're sleeping?" The look that punctuated that statement is woohoo!
Hmmm, funny how Jack is the one that had that question. Even caught Sam by it. She had a big, "oh, duh, where's my brain been?" look on her face.

Yes!, that's what I got from that scene too, all three Sam/Daniel/Teal'c were like these kids who were so sure they've got everything covered and presented the plan smugly to the teacher Hammond, and suddenly the ever wise all-knowing mother Jack said : Ermm kids... you can not fry the egg without breaking it first :p

Sort of like when he says too bad we can't use the paddles like on ER to keep Teal'c's symbiote alive in "Bane" (I think that's the ep). And Fraiser & Sam are like--yeah, electricity, we forgot about that. I love it when he kind of has the common sense answer.
I think sometimes the writers in the later seasons forgot he *isn't* dumb, just not that interested/ skilled in all the science/tech stuff & needs things boiled down a bit. I think in season 8 he sometimes was written as less intelligent than he was established to be earlier .

Hey there fellow Jack appreciators!! Hows things?
I've been kidnapped by RL for the last week but have finally managed to escape long enough to grab a chat!!
Watched Point of View last night so here's my regular Jackism from the episode
O'NEILL (in the briefing room with sg1 and AU carter and Kawalsky)
(to AU sam) Well exactly, you don't know any of us. And we don't know you. For all we know you could be her evil twin. But then…we'd be dealing with clichés and you know how I feel about those.
(to Carter)
No actually you know how I feel about those.

Well gotta dash off and cook some tea now so maybe catch ya later!

That part in Point of View is priceless! Jack, seriously confused, but only for a split-second.
Page 3 is sinful. I’ll go see if I can find something else, but RL is making it difficult for me too. *mumbles* Page 3 is just wrong. The Sam/Thor Ship thread is always on page 1. What’s up with that? Jack is Stargate. This thread should be permanently stuck on page 1.*continues mumbling incoherently*

*Continuing UHSIR mumbling* what's the matter with the Forum ? I didn't get update on the threads new-post.. and I'm having difficulties posting now.. can't even quote *sigh* and RL slipped in on week-end. Watched Revolution 2 on syndication thought..
I love it when they show a flash of Jack's past. I think the mission to save Daniel could be considered black-ops since 'officially' the US Govt doesn't do anything about it. I'm surprise that Jack killed the 3 men that was attacking Daniel just like that, without even a warning, I guess it's needed at the time, but still that's quite different than watching Jack killed Jaffa or Goa'uld. I mean they're human after all, a shot at the leg should suffice. What do you guys think ?
jckfan55
August 22nd, 2005, 01:02 PM
Well, they were chasing Daniel and trying to kill him & they wouldn't have hesitated to kill Jack either. I think he probably felt it was a kill or be killed situation.

August 22nd, 2005, 01:07 PM
I think Jack was in war-mode then. He'd been talking to what's-his-name, the old war buddy, they were in a jungle, he'd been hunting down the commotion like a panther, and maybe he had a chance to see Daniel's face first. I didn't see since it ran originally but wasn't Daniel looking a bit terrified? I think Jack wasn't willing to take the chance that being humane to these creeps would guarantee they still wouldn't kill Daniel so he opted for the 100% guarantee.

L-JADE - thinking that pic is from Full Circle but to be honest I'm kinda guessing!
Here's my Jack moment of the day...
[O'Neill and the team are in a cell, presumably in Lord Mot's palace. O'Neill and the rest of the men are sat down, Teal'c is stood by the bars. O'Neill stands up and moves towards Teal'c.]
O'NEILL: You know, every time I wake up in a Goa'uld cell, I can't help the thought that something bad is going to happen.
[Lord Mot enters, with his personal guard.]
MOT: You are the Tau'ri of Stargate Command.
O'NEILL: And you are Lord Mot, come to punish us for our insolence etc, yadda, et al.
MOT: That is correct.
O'NEILL: Well, Mr Mot, we're onto ya, we know what you've got planned, and we've informed the Tok'ra. If we don't report back on schedule, they're going to rat you out, they're going to tell your boss, they'll snitch on ya.
MOT: You intend to send a warning to Ba'al.
[O'Neill, pauses, looking around, then addressing Teal'c.]
O'NEILL: I think that's what I said, isn't it?
[Teal'c nods, smiling.]

I love that exchange, I think that Jack is forever-so-frustatingly-insolence for all GOa'uld Lords. Just when the Goa'uld yapping in booming voice and 'flowery' sentences, Jack make it short & simple using the simplest-talk-to-a-kid terms similar like when he talk-down Sam techno babble, but in Mot's cell, Mot kinda turn the table and smugly simplified things for Jack and Jack being Jack want to have the last word after all :D

You just gotta love Jacks complete lack of regard when it comes to the Goauld!!
Just watched Reckoning1.....
INT—SGC GATEROOM
[An alarm is sounding. Harriman checks his watch as he and Siler stand, facing Ba'al's hologram.]
HARRIMAN: I'm sure he'll be here any second now.
[Ba'al is obviously impatient.]
HARRIMAN: So, um…
[O'Neill enters.]
O'NEILL: I am so sorry! I was just finishing up a lovely brunch.
[O'Neill slaps his stomach.]
BA'AL: Impudence.
O'NEILL: No, tuna.

Another great interaction in this episode is with Jacob...
INT—SGC GATEROOM
[Jacob walks down the ramp as O'Neill enters, arms outstretched in greeting.]
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a57/pcbillie/Reckoning.jpg
O'NEILL: Jacob!
JACOB: Jack, we've got a problem. We need to talk.
O'NEILL: Hi! Hello. How are ya? Long time, no see. What's doing? What's up? Hey buddy?
[O'Neill pats Jacob on the shoulder.]
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a57/pcbillie/Reckoning2.jpg
JACOB: I'm sorry, Jack, it's good to see you again. Congratulations on your promotion.
[They shake hands.]
O'NEILL: Thanks.
[O'Neill smiles slightly.]
JACOB: You deserve it.
O'NEILL: Yes, well…What's up?
JACOB: The Replicators. They've launched an all-out attack on the Goa'uld. If the Goa'uld can't find a way to stop them the Replicators will easily overrun our galaxy in a matter of weeks.
O'NEILL: Why didn't you say so?
[Jacob walks out of the gateroom, O'Neill following close behind.]
O'NEILL: I'm sorry! You said we had a problem, not a big galactic emergency!

*cough* take your mind out of the gutter, I'm trying to make a point with the caps that I have here :p I like it that Jack was sitting there in the grass (looking bored but actually guarding the parameter) while Sam & Daniel checking the way-in and also put Teal'c there to guard them. It's like he knows he would be of no use if he's crowding them. And when the Grabber appear he's protecting Daniel, it's really only a gesture, but seems so right, so Jack!

He takes input from his team, even it ended with sacrificing himself. I love the scene where he scold Daniel (coz Daniel is actually the only one who can translate Ancient), flipped his cap, give it to Daniel and surge to the Ancient Repository and a little bit flinched but determindly stand in front of it. INT—SGC—EXERCISE ROOM
TEAL'C: What is the reason for these padded gloves, O'Neill?
O'NEILL: So we don't hurt each other.
[Teal'c stares at him unconvinced.]
O'NEILL: I'll be honest with you, Teal'c, it's so you don't hurt me.
O'NEILL: Come on Teal'c, you've got to move around a little bit. You've got to dance.
[O'Neill hits Teal'c in the chest, then dances some more.]
O'NEILL: Huh? Like that. [Teal'c looks down at his chest then back up at O'Neill. O'Neill stops moving and moves in closer to Teal'c, apologetic.]
O'NEILL: I'm sorry. You all right?
TEAL'C: I am fine.
O'NEILL: Well, that's why you've got to move… [Teal'c punches O'Neill in the nose. O'Neill falls to the floor holding his face, somewhat surprised.]
TEAL'C: How was that, O'Neill?
O'NEILL: (Brightly) It's good, that was good. [He rises to his feet, touching his nose.]

I have to admit, it's way easier to thunk for Jack than to appreciate & discuss & specify his moments.. but they are all there for us to see, we just have to type & post them here, it's not difficult isn'n it ? :p

Ahem, Episode is called "Evolutions Part 2"
And in the "Black Ops" or "Special Forces" training, your taught to kill a man with first Shot. Cuz if you didn't man could yell out, and you would be compromised!! Sorry, putting my http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v145/SueCanada989/Smileys/twocents.gif in!!

About "Reckoning Part 1"
Almost fell of my couch from Laughing first time I saw this, thought it was a HOOT!! :D
I love the Interactions with Jack and Baal.. (especially in ABYSS (hense sigline) but don't get me STARTED  )
But my Favorite part of Season 8 was in "Zero Hour" and it wasn't even Jack Talking but it was about HIM!!
GILMOR
Isn't it already too late?
REYNOLDS
(quietly, with feeling)
General O'Neill was once captured by Ba'al. He was tortured, killed, and brought back to life using a sarcophagus more times than you would care to imagine. SG-1 never gave up then, and General O'Neill won't now. There isn't a man or woman on this base that would.
The Actor who plays Reynold's delivers this Line Perfectly!!

Absolutely agree with you ONTLL, I was surprise that Col. Reynolds was given that spectacular lines... it's rare we got to see how other's high-opinion of Jack (other than his irreverents & kick-butt actions). And THAT lines are a thing to treasure, that others at SGC really know what Jack had gone through in the hands of Baal, sometimes it seems what Jack's endure in Abyss is a secret or only a few people know about it.
ABYSS was such a great episode, I mean yeah, Daniel had died several times these past 8 years, but in Abyss Jack died several times in succession in the short time he spent in Baal prison. It's boggled the mind of what he went through.
Oooppss.. I have started talking about Abyss to ONTLL, OY! :p

Now this Appreciation thread can stay on top for awhile.. cuz of all the comments I have about ABYSS or the pictures I have of ABYSS (all 5,032 of them) We could be here for a VERY, VERY Long time!!
We only See Jack wake up in the sarcofphicus(sp) only a few times, but if you listen to the commentary, Martin Wood said, he didn't need to show that so many times cuz the Audience (us!!) is smart enough to know, that Jack was in that thing so many times!!
Okay that is my first comment

Tee...hee..hee... as long as this keeping the thread alive & kicking, the eps is great anyway.. :D
Since you're our residence Abyss-expert, a bit trivia: howmany times do they show Jack wake up in the sarc ? :p
Strangely when I say the behind the scene & hear the commentary, my first thought was : do they keep the continuity of Jack' shirt holes ? you know how some show miss that kind of continuity, and I thought that would be bad, because once it's obvious to you, you'll keep looking at it and comment on it in your head.
Like in Smoke & Mirror, PDL said in the commentary about Barrett's tie and once I knew, I keep looking at it :(

I was so sad watching Jack expression when he put his finger inside the hole (from the acid thing) and realised : 'Hookayy... I guess I died and gone to sarc again...' I bet his mind was muddled then and the hole is the only reminder of what he had gone through.. plus the pain of course :(

Okay, I just reviewed Abyss. In the end I count 13 holes (ooo, unlucky number!) total. Two scenes showing damage, once with knives and once with acid. We actually see 3 knife wounds happen and 2 acid wounds. In the end there appears to be 8 knife and 5 acid wounds.
I noted there are possibly 2 times where continuity was amiss, but I'm not going to point them out because I was doing this rather quickly so I may be wrong. In the end, I did not notice any holes missing or out of place.
So did all of his time in the sarcophagus cause him to change? I'm thinking in season 8 Jack seems to be bitter so I just wondered if the reason for it may be because of the sarcophagus.

Jack was bitter? I didn't really notice that. I think, if we was acting slightly off, it was because it was weird always seeing him at the SGC at his desk job instead of off world.

Maybe he wasn't bitter but he was different in such a way that I was left feeling bitter? It's one of the things I'm going to try to answer when I get my season 8 DVDs. I wanted to put out feelers to see what others might think and who better to ask than the ones who appreciate him the most?

THANKS UhSir! :D wow! you really did looking for the holes :p I always wonder about that but since I don't have the DVD (only rent it through Netflix) I never had the time to really take notice.
Since Abyss happened in the early part of S6 and all through S7, Jack looks & act his normal self, I think he has overcome his sarc-addiction/side effect.
Now the Ancient frozen chamber effect... that makes you wonder why Jack in season 8 seems bitter, tired and bored too, I'm not really sure whether that's RDA's RL seeping into the show or that Jack was really meant to be that way, I think Jack's really being Jack from S8 first eps upto Zero Hour and from Reckoning1 through Moebius2, in the middle he looks a bit tired, bored & like a lot was in his mind. We catch a bit of Jackism here and there like the scene of him & Daniel in Prometheus Unbound & Icon (squirelly! :p ) but even in Full ALert, IMO he's not in form. ITBK shows some Jack perkiness coz that's his first time off world again, but that's about it. On that note, I really don't like him in Gemini, he's kinda dumbed down, and I would think that Jack would be more angry to Sam for doing something that considered rash & stupid, but that's just me *shrug*

LOL, I remember the commentaries said that RDA HATES that glass, they make it so that it's hard to drink the water... plus the gesture is add to make the toast more 'alien' I was laughing so hard when I listened to that.
And I think Jack feels the same way... :D he always seems so unease to local customs, unlike the other SG-1, but I think that is part of his (Irish) charm :p

Hey people! Sorry I haven't been around to do my fair share of appreciating although you guys are all doing a fab job!
There are indeed soooooo many fabulous Jack moments that there will be plenty that will go unmentioned but that speaks of a great character and a great actor who plays him (((RDA))). I can't say I'm counting the days until S9 airs in the UK as I just know I'm gonna miss Jack but I'll still tune in as I genuinely love the show.
However S9 for me is definitely gonna be a spin off as Jack O'Neill was the heart and soul of sg1 and that's just how I feel about it! :p

For me Season 3 is the turning point, I watch SG-1 since COTG, at the time I always have to tape it coz I have to work. I tape it together with Hercules & Xena (in syndication) and watch it after work, sometimes I forgot to tape and miss it without regret. So one day, I watch my tape without much expectation, and I saw A Hundred Days, and somehow RDA acting as Jack get my attention.. I watch it again and again and just then I realised that SG-1 is not just a team (together now roll your eyes! :o ) Sam spent so much time & energy for Jack, Janet allow Sam to do that, eventhough it's against her doctor etic, Hammond just know that Teal'c would volunteer to go, Teal'c willing to go eventough he know he would probably died of suffocation (that's not a nice way to die, mind you). I don't remember much about Daniel involvement then, but he understand Jack enough to know at the end (when Sam assumed that Jack doesn't want to go back) that Jack just never thought he ever go back & had start a living there.
I haven't start shipping for Sam/Jack then, but even now I never "hate" Laira, I like her, she gave this calming presence for Jack at the time he need that.
Then come Crystal Skull, now this eps makes me start liking Daniel as a character, and I realy like him when he said : 'Jack don't be an ass', and Nicholas repeat him and Jack said : Dan-iel ??? and -just like that- believe that Daniel really there, because that's the kind of thing that only Daniel would say to Jack.
Until then both eps become my fave, but then come Window of Opportunity.. OY! need I say more ??? :D

mmmm... URGO... I like it, it's funny but it's just that, funny! not doing anything for me. And I can't get past my opinion that Dom DL always does more slapstick than he should

I forgot if I ever post my opinion on S9 so far. I don't hate it, so I can't post in 'I hate S9 thread' but I don't love it either so I can't join all those post praising S9. IMHO, Daniel, Teal'c, Cameron, Carolyn, Landry, Vala is acting weird, like out of sync with my perception of how SG-1 would do or normally do. Sam is OK, she's the same, she's like this person who doesn't try to over compensate, take a bigger bite than usual or try to be different because it's a new season. To me S9 is watchable, some eps more than other, but it's not my fave show anymore, and I think SciFi should take TPB advise and name the show SGC instead of S9, it would be more suitable.

So I've decided that I do not dislike Season 9, but I just miss Jack so much...
The producers and writers such say that Jack is still a presence in the show, that he is still a part of the Stargate universe and all, but that really doesn't slake my need to have him on my TV every week. I miss his humor and I miss his attitude and his s**t-eating grin and his strength and his ability to keep going despite all the pain he's been through in his life.
Best character in all of Sci-Fi - Oh yeah, that would be my estimation.
Got my hopes up week before last with Carter's line to Barrett about whether she was single again. Sure would like to see some more little tidbits like that, so I can feed my fantasies, a little...

I can't think of a better way to appreciate a character than to say this is not the same show with that character gone.
It's incredible how much Jack "made" the show. With him gone, it's just bits and pieces. It should not take this long for the show to become whole again without him. But it still hasn't happened for me.
He isn't just another character on the show. He was the show.

So true!. I read in the other thread that PTB has pimping BB & CB too much and still the rating's low. The plan was to bring Farscape fans over here, but it hasn't happening yet, prolly won't.
I watch LOST CITY again in syndication yesterday... oh the JOY of watching Jack centric episode. :D :D :D really beat watching new episode of S9.

Thanks Billie--what a lovely Jack fix to get me through the rest of my day!
I watched Thor's Hammer last night (for the umpteenth time) and I really liked the way Jack talks Daniel into destroying the Hammer. He just quietly and simply says "Teal'c's here now."

I love Jack there too.. for all the anthropologist in Daniel (or the scientist in Sam) who usually have a universal point of view, he really think rather selfish there or narrow point of view when it's involved Sha're, while Jack in his simplicity just thought about friendship & loyalty of Teal'c which is the whole point.

And when he's "sniffing" Carter's hair in the hall (just as the guard passed them & Carter has a memory flash-back)
I'm a J/S shipper and also read J/D slash  but I generally like the dynamic of SG-1 more. And now Jack's gone.. it's kinda weird for me.
Uh guys... I'm going on vacation for 2 weeks with little/no time for GW  the HORROR! hopefully I can still visit from time to time, depending on the wi-fi.

Days since we appreciated Jack? For shame! I didn't see this mentioned in the thread (via the somewhat unreliable search function)--Today SciFi ran "Seth." I love the line where he gets hit with the nishta and says "So help me if I wake up and I'm singing soprano..." Cracks me up.

He's so serious there and justifiably so, because it's a monumental moment for Earth and then he gave a Jack's special by sending the champange through the wormhole. It's a nice & warm touch and I don't think any other head of SGC would even thought of doing that, it's a small gesture but able to lift up the Atlantis team spirit.
How cool was that ? I MISSSS JAAACCCKKK :(

Hey all! :)
Not long back from a very nice week in New York, had great time but it's good to be home and back in computer range!
L-JADE, if you do manage to check in while you're away, hope you are having a fab holiday! :D
I haven't watched any sg1 for what seems like ages, I know, I know where's my dedication I hear you cry * bows head in shame* but I'm back on track now and will be indulging in an episode or two while I tuck into my lunch!
You'll know I've kept my word when I come back later with my Jack moment from the episode - which one to watch though? I might just have to have a pick out of the hat moment I think!
Until later! *Mmmmm, now what shall I have for lunch......*
Billie

Well I finally made a decision, both on lunch (very nice salad!) and the episode, I went for Need from S2
A great episode for Jack/Daniel interaction. Loved the scenes when Daniel goes down into the mines to see J,S,T who have been forced to work while Daniel lives it up in the Palace.
Anyway, here's my Jack moment:
[SG-1 is using pick axes to break apart rocks.]
[A Jaffa walks up to SG-1.]
JAFFA: You will meet your quota for the day or you will not eat.
O’NEILL: You know, I've seen an awful lot of union violations around here. I should probably speak to your supervisor.
[The Jaffa hits O’Neill.]
JAFFA: You will work.
O’NEILL: Hi ho, hi ho, back to work.
Gotta admire his humour in times of pain and adversity!! :D :D

Just had to share this gem with you all! :)
Was watching Rules of Engagement a few days ago and this scene made me snort on my coffee!! (very messy!!):p
TEAL'C (addressing the warriors): This is Colonel O'Neill. He is much loved by Apophis.
(to O'Neill)
You may address the warriors.
O'NEILL: (to the warriors)
Apophis wanted me to tell you that you've all been doing a wonderful job. Couldn't ask for more. Well done. But, he also wanted me to tell you the whole…invasion of the Tau'ri idea has been canceled due to…[coughs]...rain.
[The warriors appear confused.]
:D ROFLOL and CUC (coughing up coffee!) :D
O'NEILL: So. The war games are officially over as of right…
[He checks for a watch, but finds he isn't wearing one.]
O'NEILL: (cont'd) …now. You can all go home.
NELSON: Sir?
O'NEILL: It's over, Nelson. Go tell your buddies to quit fighting.
[Nelson shares a suspicious look with Rogers.]
NELSON: You speak more like a Tau'ri than a warrior of Apophis.
O'NEILL: Thanks. You're not so bad yourself. Who taught you?
NELSON: If you are who you say you are, you already know the answer to that, sir.
O'NEILL: Nelson, I am ordering you to recall your men from the field.
NELSON: Article 7, Section 3 clearly states that once the battle has commenced, it cannot be stopped.
O'NEILL: Well, you're obviously referring to the old Article 7.

Have just made a decision (gosh I love it when I'm decisive!!) I'm gonna do what has been suggested over on the J&S thread and email RDA through his website to say how much I love and miss Jack and that sg1 just isn't the same without him. Although will also let him know that I totally understand and respect his reasons for taking a very well earned break but hope that he just might give us something to look forward to in S10!!
He sure deserves to know how much we all appreciated him/Jack:D

some fave Jack O'Neill moments:
Divide and Conquer:
Jack: Apparently the snake likes you.
(fumbles with yoyo)
Daniel: Yep, I think these are the Jack O'Neill moments I'll miss the most.
Jack: What?
Daniel: What?
The Other Side:
Ordering the iris closed, killing the leader who followed them.
The look in his eyes as he stares Sam down -- dark Jack, always compelling.
It's Good to Be King:
"God I miss going off world!"
Red Sky:
mentioned before, but worth repeating - that whole scene where he confronts the fanatic. One of the best dark Jack scenes of the whole series, IMHO.

Oh yeah, 'Red Sky'! Just saw that again the other night. we don't see Jack that far gone too often. It was very great acting on RDA's part.
