In a nearby village not far from Jack's cabin, a romantic dinner in a corner booth of the local bar and grill. (Hey, it's rural Minnesota, eh?) A steak dinner with Guinness and peach pie a la mode. Then, a stroll along the pond before a romantic evening back at the cabin. Candles, soft music, chocolate martinis...

I could see him liking a good military or historical movie, but when was the last time Hollywood made a good military movie. Hollywood is anti-military so that's why I went for something more in the comedy area. Now, if the Pentagon made a movie, I think Jack would be all for it.

You don't think Jack could get excited over a well made military or historical movie? I don't think Jack is all that shallow though he would love people to think of him that way.

I would see Jack as a movie watcher, but I just don't think he'd care about the snooty-snoots giving awards to them. He'd only care about what he and his friends liked, not what somebody else told him he should like. (For the same reason, he wouldn't care about critics and reviews.)

I didn't even REALIZE it was him speaking when I heard that 'Swimmers' line. Now I have to giggle. And that pic of him smiling is so nice. He did look like he had a fun time. The lady from Germany got some GREAT pics. I hope she posts them somewhere!

Hi!

I know, I am very late, but I just recently found out that the German lady you were talking about was my friend Ulrike. Didn't even know she was going to the Quench-the-Fire-thingy. And yes, you can find her pictures online. Go here

http://stargate-reise.de/news_8.htm

and scroll down just a little, till 15. Dezember. There is a little report (although in German) and a few pictures under it which become big when you click them. Sorry, can't link to the pictures directly because they are javascript.

Have fun! And back to talking Oscars - which I forgot to tape this year :(

Happy Birthday LadyJeep!

No radio station...just a frakin quacking of a frackin duck with trickling water in the background while the frackin duck quacks louder and louder and LOUDER until you want to rise up, pick up the alarm and through it through the window...every morning!! Huff!!!.... Huff...Huff...

What? I need a new alarm clock !

I vote for Jack awaking to opera. Classic rock can be a real eye opener in the morning depending on what song is playing ;).

Tam's answer:
There would probably need to be some really good reasons since Jack in SG-1 is encompassed by the discussion of RDA's career.
We aren't really to swayed by the argument that folks would have to utilize the scroll feature on their mouse or monitor as a deterrent for not merging extremely similar threads. However, that being said if the MAD thread is solely discussion and has little to no pictures, that would be a better reason to keep them separate as a *Thunk thread* is geared to be more of a pictures heavy thread versus a discussion thread.

However, we do review the threads prior to recommending a merge or a shut down-> to combine. SO if we see that the threads may have similarities but diverge enough in topic and content that merging them would dilute one or the other thread. Then we won't even bring it up as an option.

Sometimes its a matter of comparing apples to oranges, at other times its comparing oranges with grapefruit and lastly comparing oranges to tangerines.

Because to make proper Buffalo wings, you have to have learned in Buffalo - and if Jack O'Neill had been in Buffalo, NY, I certainly would have known it and been camped out on his doorstep!! <vbEg> My Jack-O'Neill radar is strong, and Buffalo's not that big.

On the other hand, with a name like O'Neill, he could have family here. After all, there's a very high Irish population in Western NY. LOL!

All of us here know the difference betweek the Thunk THread & MAD thread, because we're here everyday ;) but there are hundreds of threads in GateWorld and the MODS couldn't possibly monitor & check each & every single posts to determine if a thread is a duplicate, similar or completely different. So if a few posts are determined to be too similar to merit they own thread, there's nothing we can do :mckay:

i am not a RDA thunker (please ladies don't hurt me eh!!:o)
i look at this thread as a 'Jack' thread ... not a 'RDA' thread ... it is why i came to play here to start ... it is a place to express my admiration for the amazing character that RDA has created in Jack. So if they combine the threads then i would not have a place to talk about Jack without having to get lost in the fray of the thunking thread. Not that I am saying there is anything wrong with the other thread ... just not my cup of tea is all. So i sure hope they leave them be as they are!

See, I don't care what that stuff is worth

these are those ... i fell in love with the man all over moments ...

You know what the Goa'uld really want from us? Minnesota, that's what. For the fishing, mostly

I have great confidence in you, Carter. Go on back to the SGC and… confuse Hammond

Thank you, Sir. These little chats of ours always bring me...great joy and serve to ease my mind.

K'tano: I see you are one who speaks your mind, O'Neill.
Col. O'Neill: Yes, which is why I don't say much.

We're on a mission, you nit!

It's a Greek tragedy. Who wants that?

Maybourne: (eating hot dog) I helped myself, I hope you don't mind.
Col. O'Neill: You're eating my dog.
Maybourne: (chewing) You want it back?
Col. O'Neill: You want some beer to wash it down?
Maybourne: Already got some.

MAYBOURNE: I've been drinking the lake straight up.
O'NEILL: Well that's smart.
MAYBOURNE: I'm not dead yet.
O'NEILL: It's early.

That is just wrong on so many levels.

MAYBOURNE: You don't find things a little spooky around here?
O'NEILL: Made so only by your presence.

You and I are the only ones here. Trust me, the only thing you have to be afraid of around here is me.

Yes, Harry, you've been a very bad boy.

these two are shear genius together!:D

Oh I don't know, I just can't imagine cute little furry things making big powerful weapons, that's all.

Don't forget to tell him you screwed up... again!

i just adore the jack/herak moments!!:p

DANIEL: I'm…I'm energy now.
O'NEILL: How's that workin' out for you?

…comin' back from the dead. Takes a while to get the color back in your cheeks.

DANIEL: There isn't always a way out, Jack.
O'NEILL: Hey, if that was true, I'd have been dead a long time ago!

Damn straight! I'd have busted you out, blown this rat hole to hell and made sure that son-of-a-***** suffered!

You're wrong about that too. I have another choice

*sniff*

O'NEILL: Daniel. You have to end this.
DANIEL: Jack, you just have to hang in there a little while longer.
O'NEILL: No. I can't go back in there. If I go back, I swear to God, I'll give Ba'al what he wants, I'll tell him.

No, contrary to his being a military man with experience in killing enemies, I don't think he has an interest in the sport of hunting. However, when in survival mode on Earth or offworld, I see him hunting, trapping, fishing, etc for food like in Paradise Lost.

You said almost word for word what I was thinking. I say season 1 too because gate travel still involved so much that was mysterious and unknown. It was kind of like the early days of the space race in the 60's - a fly-by-the-seat-of-your pants time without the safety net of the Tok'ra, Asgard, Prometheus, etc.

OK,OK. You all make good points about how 100 Days develops Jack's character. I understand that after 100 days for crying outloud he would think they were unable to rescue him so he would adapt to his new "home" and insert L-word. I did like the force and fury of nature part and then, of course, SG-1's determination to rescue Jack with Sam's brilliant invention. Let me add that RDA did an outstanding job with characterizing Jack's loss and despair but indomitable sense of self preservation. Just another reason why I adore Jack O'Neill.

I dislike 100 Days mainly because I can't stand the actress that plays Laira.

I also dislike that Jack gave up so quickly. Whatever happened to 'nobody gets left behind'? Surely he knew that his team wouldn't give up trying to find him?

Did I mention that I detest Laira? :P She didn't seem to be too worried about all her people that were stranded back on Earth.

The one good thing about the episode was that Jack looked hot! :D

The one bad thing about the episode is Laira!!!

yes, to all of the above. What I liked about the ep. (besides smokin' Jack) was the team's efforts to get him back. I think it would have taken longer than a few months for Jack to give up and move on.

LOL...hehehehehehe...

Has anyone else noticed how the question, "Jacks favorite SG1 eppy?" turned into " I hate laira and 100 days," within a few posts from each other?

I can watch 100 days but only if I look at it from Sam's perspective. I hate to say it and especially on this thread but they wrote Jack as a real a-hole for this eppy. You don't forget the love of your life after 3 1/2 months. Hec, with some after years either. Humff.....

She drugged him. She lured him. Sure, his inhibitions were down. He consented. He's a red-blooded, hot-blooded Alpha Male. But, the real blame goes to TPTB for writing Jack out of character. Maybe it should have been called 300 Days. Or, maybe he shouldn't have given up so soon. Where was the military consultant to advise TPTB?
