I bet he can do basic repairs. But we did see his wife working on a car, so maybe he let her do it. ;) Or maybe she had to with him gone all the time.

Jack's gotta be a pancake man! :jack_new_anime04: If he makes pancakes like he cooks omelets the batter would include beer, of course!
I haven't tried them myself but you take pancake mix and substitute beer for the liquid. The recipe says the pancakes are very light and fluffy. :jack_new_anime07:

He is soooo a pancake man :jack: , Waffle is Daniel's area :daniel:
Read this as proof : Trading Day (http://www.ltljverse.com/watergate/stories/tradingday.htm)
*sigh* my phoneline was out since Friday upto Tuesday, so... no internet for days... :mckay::mckay::mckay: I ended up re-reading fave old fics which I saved in my harddrive. One of them is Retrogate Series (http://www.ltljverse.com/watergate/seriesindex.htm) by Martha Wilson. Trading day is one of the short-stories in the series.
It's mainly SGA, crossover with SG1, alternate universe and IMO one of the best of describing General Jack O'Neill, this is the man who used to be Col Jack O'Neill, smart, tactical, experienced and leader of SG-1 who also very good as a team. This is the story that made me like SGA, go read ! :jack:

Me, too. I wonder if Jack can access his cabin during the winter? From the episodes, it doesn't look like a paved state road leading to his cabin. So, some private plowing company would have to plow through. I recall bet it's cosy with a roaring fire.:)

Question of the day: We know Jack enjoys opera music so which opera is his favorite?
Oy, this question stumped me!!!
I vaguely recall an episode, nope, probably fanfic that Jack was playing Verdi. So, I went to Wikipedia. Maybe Jack likes Aida by Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901).
Synopsis
Overview: Aida, an Ethiopian princess, is captured and brought into slavery in Egypt. A military commander, Radames, struggles to choose between his love for her and his loyalty to the Pharaoh. To complicate the story further, Radames is loved by the Pharaoh's daughter Amneris, although he does not return the feeling.

Good assumption, nell. I also thought he might like The Magic Flute. What, you say? Sounds too wimpy for Jack? :jack_new_anime05: Read on:
Sarastro, the wise priest of Isis and Osiris, has taken Pamina to the temple for the purpose of releasing her from the influence of her mother, the Queen of the Night. The queen induces the young Prince Tamino to go in search of her daughter and free her from the power of Sarastro; Tamino accomplishes his end, but becomes the disciple of Sarastro, whose mildness and wisdom he has learned to admire. The prince and the princess are united.

:D Aida is great, and the Barber of Seville is better than the Magic Flute, but I think that Jack would also like some of the more melodically romantic operas.
Perhaps some Puccini: La Boheme, Madame Butterfly and Tosca.
He may also like Pagliacci, written by Leoncavallo.
Of course, he would also like some loud, 'manly' music by Wagner: Tannhäuser or maybe Lohengrin.

TMJ = Temporomandibular Joint Disorder
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the area directly in front of the ear on either side of the head where the upper jaw (maxilla) and lower jaw (mandible) meet. The doctor told me I have the upper jaw of one parent and the lower jaw of the other parent. Lateral movement when I chew. Crooked chin. That all boils down to no gum!

No, I think as Colonel/General he would follow protocol and not do so outside of the locker room with the guys. In general, (no pun intended) I'm guessing that Jack's battle scars are probably not something for which he seeks attention. Yes, in Solitudes he made conversation with Captain Carter about his history of broken bones but as a distraction as she treated him. Otherwise I don't think it would come up.

Heehee! They both win at that one.
This scene from Window of Opportunity has always bugged me a little:

I have a hard time seeing Jack taking up pottery in his spare time. It just seems a little too feminine for him. What hobbies do you guys think he'd take up once he's retired and has some time on his hands?
I can see him coaching little league hockey:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/sugarshaker/image2060.jpg
We know he loves kids, and I think he'd enjoy teaching them a rough-and-tumble sport that requires a lot of skill. :D

I have to disagree with you sugarshaker ( can you believe that :o), Jack has his sensitive spot and I could see him taking up pottery. He listens to opera, likes animals and kids. That's already pretty sensitive. Many of Jack's attributes are RDA's and he says he had tried his hand at pottery and why it was written into the script of WoO. I agree with you with teaching kids street hockey, rollerskating etc. But he also brought the kid (whatever her name) to do painting at the school. He's doesn't want it to be known by most that he's a pretty rounded person and well educated. I think he he loves the arts as much as rough and tumble sports. (Don't throw stones-lov'ya:)

When Jack retires from the military I see him taking a civilian position as a consultant. He has valuable knowledge and experiences to share although I can't see him cooped up in a classroom as an instructor at the Academy. Probably some field instruction for new SGC recruits on Alpha Site. He likes action and adventure but not taking the risks that he once did. Alpha Site is probably a 'safe bet' when offworld.
Since he can write his own ticket, I think he'll have lots of downtime at home with his family *cough* Sam * cough*, reading, fishing, cooking. There's lots of recreation, for sure, at home!

Bev, this is a question that I remember them arguing about on All in the Family (with Archie Bunker).
Does Jack put on a sock and a sock then a shoe and a shoe..... or a sock and a shoe then a sock and a shoe?
*substitute combat boot for shoe*
One argued that if you had 2 socks on and you had to run at least your feet were covered. The other argued that if you had one sock and one shoe on you could hop on one shoe clad foot.

:D Thanks Trupi. I don't feel so bad now if I add something British or European. I didn't want to add something that would be taken as being out of character, since Jack (and Stargate in general) is American.
If you guys are okay with the idea of Jack being well-travelled, then I'll add my own stuff, hopefully with links so you guys can see what I mean.

Me too. The Return pts. 1 & 2, The Shroud, Unending and maybe a couple of others would be nice. I've noticed that on the Amazon UK site, you can buy some single discs separately; some are new, some aren't. On the US site, you can only get the boxed sets. Those thinpaks sound nice, though. :D Yes, all the Stargate episodes come out on single volumes here first. (Region 2) After all the individual volumes are out for sale, we can then buy the box sets. That is why the Region 1 season 10 box set is for sale at the moment, but Region 2 are still selling individual volumes. I think it's March next year before the box set comes out for us.

I've noticed that on the Amazon UK site, you can buy some single discs separately; some are new, some aren't. On the US site, you can only get the boxed sets. Those thinpaks sound nice, though. I wish they had those when I was buying seasons 1 - 8. :)
P.S. I see you moved out of the library! :p
I broke down and ordered Atlantis Season 3 for The Return but there are episodes I wanted to see with other characters, too. But, mainly to see Jack.:D

I might end up getting Atlantis season 3. Of course, I'm definitely hoping I'll want to buy Ark of Truth and Continumn. ;)
And since this is the M.A.D. thread:

Question of the day: Jack did such a great job swimming in "The Return". So where did Jack learn how to swim so well?

I think he learned from his father and grandfather at the cabin as a kid, but he probably got a lot of practice during basic training too.

And Special Ops training, too.

He was in the swim team at school, and he likes to scuba dive.

Throw a child into a lake:jack_new_anime05:Our gallant Sir Jack would never do that to a child who wanted to learn how to swim:jack_new_anime04:

I think so, especially if Charlie would have wanted to play. :)

I can see the team going out to play - Daniel criticizing the decor , Carter being competitive, Teal'c sending the golf balls into orbit and Jack goofing around but winning.
