Perhaps on a day's hike though one of the state parks around Colorado Springs. He'd carry a surprise picnic lunch in his backpack. :) (and he'd make it an easy hike out of respect for his date who isn't used to marching 40 klicks!)

That's from S8 DVD special, the one where RDA received a commendation from the Air Force, before the ceremony, he was touring the White House.

I think Jack would make eye contact first, to get the lady's attention. Then do his lopsided grin and raise his glass like to say "do you want to join me?" Now more seriously... I just don't see Jack as the romancing type, but I do sense a streak of romanticism in him.
I think he's a one-woman type of guy, and that in itself is romantic *grins*. He may take his lady to dinner, or on a quiet weekend, but in a "Jack place" i.e. a cabin or a Western type restaurant (wooden logs and all) which is not necessarily not romantic, mind you.
I just don't see him sending flowers out of the blue, or dining in fancy restaurants outside the job...

Jack is in his own quirky way. He looks at you seriously, but agree with Anakin, he is a one woman man *sighs* and I bet his romantic time would be at the cabin. He would go to fancy dinners, but only if he "had" to!! But wouldn't do them all the time! Probably would send flowers, if hinted correctly!!

Abyss is a great episode in part b/c it shows the deeper side of O'Neill. And RDA shows that he does have the acting chops when he's given a chance to use them. It's a very affecting episode.

I would also like to put out my deepest sympathy to the families of the people injuried/killed in last night's bridge collaspe in Minneapolis. I hope that non of RDA friends or family were part of that horrific collaspe and my prayers and thoughts go out to the folks in and around the city.

Instinctively, I'd say no. However, he has seen some strange things in his time. But Daniel in Abyss wasn't a ghost. He was an ascended being. Now the Crystal Skull aliens certainly fit our descriptions of ghosts...big, honkin' ghosts!

I think he could have used the top of his head as a weapon:) I enjoyed Kurt Russell performance in SG and he was cute to look but at the time it was what it was. However, when RDA came along and reintroduced the character, I think his remodeling of "Jack" was brilliant. He was dark but in a more human non-military way where Kurt's Jack was "Black" in a military way of, " I will do what ever I'm ordered,Sir!" This made the Daniel character very important in the movie's development of the story line but in the show our "Jack" could be "empathic" without the help of Daniel all the time. The movie was definitely anti- military, where the show isn't and shows the good/bad side of the business. Get my drift?:)

:indeed: I don't think I'd have watched a show with O'Neil. And RDA has said he wouldn't have been interested in playing that character. *Our* Jack is what got me hooked on the show when I came across it accidentally one day. I had seen the movie, but only vaguely remembered it. I hadn't been a particular fan of RDA before (despite his good looks) :o even though I had sometimes watched MacGyver. RDA's O'Neill really grabbed me. (And I thought RDA looked much handsomer as O'Neill).

Oh and on the animal question. He would certainly help the animal, but wouldn't let anyone know he had done it. Doesn't want to look like a softie, you know.

I think he avoids umbrellas and just relies on caps. We've seen him stand in the rain quite a bit even on earth, such as in Desperate Measures. I don't think it's vanity as much as he can't be bothered to remember to carry one.

I don't think we were supposed to know it was raining!! Just like some of the earlier episodes where it was raining, you can see Jack's or Carter's jackets wet, but they never mention it. It was part of filming in British Columbia!

*sigh* I've read so many good fanfics about clone!Jack, and he really (plausibly) can be anything he wants to be .... I love the one when he took his flying licence & opens a charter-planes service :)

Jack O'Neill has several interests/qualities/abilities: Public Service, Leadership, Courage, and a Good Moral Compass among others that are likely to propel Mini Me in one direction. I think that Mini Me would seek the adrenaline rush of a career with lots of action and adventure that will result in a positive outcome for people. I can't imagine him not joining the military with the intention of playing a role in Stargate travel unless the government will not allow it. This time, however, I think he will avoid the darker aspects of a military career (special ops, sniper, etc).

The military machine would be nuts to pass on the opportunity to have another Jack O'Neill in the ranks.

Hmm. I want to say that he doesn't join the military (as he already done that, been there). At the end of FB, he says he gets a chance to do-over his life. As nell said, he probably would seek a career with lots of action and an opportunity to help people. And I would think the military would want Mini-Jack to join them and try to doing everything within their powers to get it done. I can see Jack resisiting that pressure.

But then again, I can also see Jack joining the military with the intention to get back into the Stargate Program. The only problem I see with that is that it might look like mini-Jack wants his old life back, and that he hasn't adjusted to his new life.
